| Jur (12), , Netherlands | | May 21, 2012 Great selection, but it has a commercial feel to it. Staff is business-like and a bit pushy. No love for the beer or customer.
If you can get past that, great things are to be had. | | Caytinator (25), Kaiserslautern, Germany | | February 6, 2012 It’s another Flying Saucer, what do you want? The waitresses know jack about beer and when it’s crowded, you wait forever for beer. That being said, you might catch me here on a weeknight for trivia or something. | | AWMiller (13), Mansfield, Texas | | September 21, 2011 I’m in trouble now... recently started hitting this joint for lunch and now I’m DEFINITELY going to have to start my liquid diet! Liquid as is savoring all those delicious brews that they have!!! | | thirdeye11 (33), Dallas, Texas | | August 8, 2011 Unfortunately the smoking takes away from the total ambiance of the place. The Fort Worth location feels a bit more nostalgic as well. I understand the motivation to allow smoking however. It’s Addison and it’s a crowd they want to cater to.
The service at the Addison location from the beer goddesses is superb. Bar service isn’t bad either. In general though, I think the overall level of knowledge isn’t near what The Moth or The Common Table are. Some of the seasoned beer goddesses though definitely know their stuff.
Selection is pretty wide, both in bottles and draft. It doesn’t have the rarities of The Moth, but I also don’t expect it to. The menu could be updated occasionally though to feature some new beers.
Food is actually pretty darn good. The pizza is worth having, as are several of the sandwiches. Definitely a step up from most pubs.
Overall, a worthy spot to visit if you’re in Addison. It’s probably the best beer bar within several miles. | | SPDickerman (27), Texas | | July 10, 2011 Old-style converted house with a vast selection of taps and bottles. Attractive waitresses and good food, only a little bit pricey. Sometimes crowded and only has a cover charge on the weekend. | | blutt59 (121), Dallas, Texas | | May 22, 2011 one of the originals in Dallas, get there early or not at all. nice porch with windows that open, usually have something new on tap, food is average , service is usually pretty quick | | n2pux (13), Houston, Texas | | February 7, 2011 Only been once but was the least enjoyable of the 4 FS’s I’ve been to. Crazy busy & loud with the service problems that go with it. Selection didn’t seem to be on par with the other FS’s. But I still managed to get a couple of good choices. | | Dixonian (79), Dallas, Texas | | January 31, 2011 My least favorite of all the area saucers, which is a damn shame since I live ridiculously close to it. It gets crazy loud and echoes inside. especially when busy. They tend to get the least interesting special one of kegs out of all 3 area saucers but overall the selection is decent. The service is hit or miss - really there are only a few waitresses and one, maybe 2 bartenders who consistently do a good job. Still better than many area bars, I just wish it was better. | | RaginCajun (15), Dallas, Texas | | December 20, 2010 Solid beer establishment that is on par with the other Flying Saucers. It has the typically massive beer selection, average but well priced food, and service is typically good most of the time. This location has a good patio out front when the weather is nice. Parking can get difficult during peak times, and they have been known to charge cover charges when bands are playing there. Definitely the best beer joint in the immediate area as the rest of the landscape is dominated by either chain restaurants that offer the generic distributor’s offerings (blegh!) or fine dining places that are wine/cocktails only. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | December 19, 2010 December 2010. Although like any Saucer, this place had a long list of beer offerings, this was the least impressive I’d seen in terms of unusual offerings. There were about 7 choices from Texas, but I’d hoped for more local/regional picks. The bartender was efficient if a bit stand-off-ish. Biggest turnoff here was the smoking, which never helps the flavor of your beer. |
