| ozbeernerd (12), Adelaide, Australia | | July 3, 2011 [ Updated December 1, 2011 ] I thought all the Dan Murphy’s stores were the same, until I stopped by the Glenunga and Noarlunga stores, instead of my usual one at Marion. The Glenunga store has by far the smallest range I have seen. The prices are the same at all of them, but Noarlunga has by far the largest range and I always stop by when visiting the relatives down that way. Better than the other chains but that is not a high bar. | | SABEERGEEK (10), , | | January 23, 2011 Drab Woolworths range, staff don’t like their boss and it shows, some of the young ones are keen to talk beer if the boss is not watching, they garantee the lowest price, but this is a trap, in reality it applies only to commercial beer specials, there single prices are very high. | | OSLO (119), Ames, Iowa | | September 3, 2009 Well, this is a big box liquor store owned by Woolworth’s, but it is better than most other liquor stores I stopped at near Adelaide--especially in this particular are of the metro area. Don’t expect much, but there are a few Belgians, Southwarks, Coopers, Holgate, Weihenstephaner, Baltika, some Monteiths, Mountain Goat, a little Redoak and Feral, Wicked Elf and a number of others. Most of those listed only have limited or very standard releases, but it is a start. Service is typical of a big box liquor store. Prices are pretty reasonable, and supposedly Dan Murphy’s guarantees the lowest price (then again, who are they competing with, BWS? BWS is also owned by Woolworth’s I guess). A final note, if you want Brewboys, and are in the area, check out the Burnside Cellar’s north a short distance on Portrush, because Dan Murphy’s doesn’t carry it. |
