| badlizard (109), San Diego, California | | December 18, 2011 Kinda of a cool place in a cool part of town. I didn’t try the food, but I liked that they had a large selection of their own brews (somewhere in the area of 20 or more) on tap - too many to make a taster set possible. Their brews tend to be hit or miss, but I enjoyed hanging out there drinking. | | fredandboboflo (62), East Setauket, New York | | July 6, 2011 Kind of a weird place. Doesn’t seem to be aiming for any particular vibe atmosphere, food, or beer wise, and just felt like a generic bar/eatery with a bunch of beers on tap, both house and guest, some quality, some macro. The bartender certainly did not care or indicate that she or anybody should care about the house brews one bit. Out of the many selections I tried the British Pale, ESB, and 7.2% stout, the former two being decent, the latter being pretty poor. Hard to make a judgment about twenty beers from just three, but coupled with the lack of brewpub atmosphere they seemed to indicate a less than stellar standard. Prices seemed a little high for what they were putting out, at the high end of the local price range. In a city which now boasts a wealth of excellent options, this place just doesn’t make the cut. | | LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | July 5, 2011 A brewpub/bar in Nob Hill, Albuquerque. This place clearly caters to the college/sports loving crowd. There are lots of posters announcing the prices of macro beers. It is a huge space - tons of outdoor seating (equipped with large outdoor fans as well), lots of long tables inside (cafeteria style), and a decent sized bar as well. They have a number of guest taps as well as house brews (although apparently the menus are separate...). There is quite a large number of house brews (maybe 20) of a variety of styles (if you’re looking to tick, this is the place). The beers I tried were not too bad, although not too great, but definitely easy to drink. There is a food menu (didn’t try anything- it looks like your typical pub fare). The service was middling - I felt ignored some of the time even though there were not many patrons there. On the other hand, the bartender was very interested in testing out different versions of Shock Top Raspberry Wheat each with a different sugary rim on the glass, so we got a lot of free samples. Anyway, overall definitely on the lower end of the beer spectrum, but if you were really into going somewhere with a big crowd or watching a big sporting event, I imagine it would be a good place to go. One of the things they really tout is the opportunity to participate in brewing one of their recipes and taking home 72 bombers of said beer (doesn’t particularly appeal to me, but may to some I guess). | | beerstars (22), | | March 5, 2011 LOVE the old gas station turned brew pub! It’s a great locations and the patio is fun year round!!!
The light lager is our favorite and will have it agian. Food is OK too, but hte beer is the reason to come here. | | ajm (191), Los Angeles, California | | October 22, 2008 [ Updated December 7, 2008 ] Cannot believe I haven’t rated this place, as I try and make an appearance when in the 505. I like it here a lot and especially enjoy the brown. I repect that they have a couple stouts, an Alt, a couple Belgian styles and rotating wheat beers. Tasting more like extract brew every day, but a good watering hole. I read erway’s account of his visit and cannot comment one way or the other, but he is right to call shenanigans, and I wonder if other places are worthy of such allegations! | | sealfriend (18), , New Mexico | | September 30, 2008 Each time I have been to Kelly’s at peak meal or drinking time, it has seemed crowdedbut I’ve never had to wait for a table. The old motor company has a vast amount of spaceespecially for a location on Central Ave. Good indoor and outdoor seating plus a bar with lots of large-ish TVs around and sports constantly on. Soccer is popular.
The first drink orders are generally taken within two minutes and food orders soon after. The menu boasts a wide varietyfrom burgers to spanakopita. I’m a fan of the steak sandwich.
| | tomciccateri (89), Albuquerque, New Mexico | | August 12, 2007 Two dozen house beers on printed beer menu. Similar characteristics due likely from the extract approach. Latest samples actually had somewhat style oriented distinctive characteristics. Large outdoor patio in the UNM/Nob Hill area is the biggest attraction. Food tends to be all fried and best consumed during the popular happy hours. Some college student staff are more informed that others. Even more pleasant now that Albuquerque has gone non-smoking. | SoylentBlack (7), Albuquerque, New Mexico does not count - explanation | | December 18, 2006 A lot of beers, fairly decent. Terrible food. More a huge party than anything else. Loud indoors. Decent outside on a nice day. | | fordest (62), Santee/San Diego, California | | August 20, 2006 Very large, somehow reminded me of a big party type atmosphere even though it was only noon. Reminded me too of a large semi open taco shop in Mexico. The bartender kept referring to the beers as light beers regular beers, and dark beers even after I demonstrated some knowlege of beer. I guess she just didn’t get it. | murawski (7), does not count - explanation | | August 29, 2005 Very large place, with lots of outdoor seating. Seemed appealing at first, until we tasted the beer. Have large selection of their own brews, but I am not sure they are different other than color. Boring and bland beer. |
