(Visited 07/2014): Rusticoís Alexandria location is on Slaters Lane off the Jefferson Davis highway. There is a shared parking lot amongst the businesses in that area.
The brick building is tall and has a clock at the top of it. Inside opens to a table seating area, then the curved bar is in the back. Brick walls and hanging fans in the bar area, and large windows let in light. There is a large board on the far wall next to some artwork that lists the beers by categories of "Crisp", "Hop" and "Fruit & Spice". Behind the bar is a row of tap handles and a cooler with bottles.
The beer selection consists of around 30 beers on tap, with breweries like Perennial, Lost Rhino, 21st Amendment, Wild Wolf and DC Brau. There are a couple hundred bottles as well covering domestic and imported craft breweries.
Service at the bar on a weekday lunch as pretty good. The bartender was efficient and knowledgeable about the beers, and was kind with samples.
The food menu at Rustico is pretty robust. I opted for a burger and it was good.
Overall this is a nice spot for food with a solid beer selection outside of the DC/Arlington area.

This is a great place to drink beer. There is a large selection, at least 20+, craft beers on tap that rotate regularly. They also have a rotating selection of two cask conditioned ales as well. Their bottle selection is probably close to 100 with a well thought out beer menu with everything that is available. The menu is designed to help you pick just the right beer. Donít fall into the peristalsis by analysis and just pick something if you canít decide, you wont be disappointed.
Their staff is knowledgeable and are friendly to talk to. They have a large dining area and a great bar area with a first come first serve policy in the bar. As for the food, it is great as well. A limited menu but it changes often with the season. One thing that never changes is the pizza. A great crust with excellent ingredients.

Similar tap list to Smoke and Barrel or Churchkey, though more reduced. Lots of bottles - opened the menu and found it mind boggling. Burger was good and generally a good ambiance for a suburban place. Prices on par with Churchkey and Smoke and Barrel.

Been here about 3 times so far and have had an enjoyable time each visit. Medium size bar with comfortable bar seats. Havenít sat in the dining areas but there looks to be a good amount of tables. Good selection of drafts along with two casks and a sizable bottle list. Draft and cask beers are available in full glass and 4 ounce pours, the latter of which come in a labeled flight/tasting tray if you order 4 at a time. Nice deals on happy hour available daily including $2 off full glasses of drafts/casks. Good food menu including snacks/appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas, and entrees. Enjoyed the deep fried deviled eggs, risotto tots, pork sliders, and pizzas, the last of which has a gluten free option with a chick pea crust. Free 3 hour parking in the back lot that fills up during peak hours, street parking otherwise. Closest metro is Braddock Road, not a convenient walk but still doable.

Big place with a great selection of beer, good food, good service and a convenient location close to the airport. Crazy aircon at the time though, even the staff said it was too cold.

One of my go to places when weíre out in the town and in the mood for a few good beers. I really enjoy the couches by the fireplace. If you get there early enough, you can secure a seat there. Fun art and tile work decorate the walls. Open and spacious feeling.
Nice list of rotating drafts, offering a variety of styles, to include a few out of market beers. Two casks available.
Decent bottle list, although some of the beers are marked up way too high. This isnít a cheap place by any stretch.
Great food. Far above average for a place that is seemingly focused on beer.
Definitely worth a stop if youíre in the area.

Was back here last night, and I have to say that my original score was way too low. Excellent draft/cask/bottle list, and outstanding food. Our server was also very attentive (and knowledgeable) without getting in the way. The only "complaint" is that the place isnít a bargain, but I certainly canít say itís overpriced either (FWIW, the HH beer discounts improve the price significantly).
(7/1/06) New place in Alexandria with good tap selections (Duchess, DFH, Left Hand, Dominion, Victory, etc.) and extensive bottle selection (nothing rare, but plenty of good stuff). Food was decent, and service was friendly though a bit slow (sat in the bar section). Beers are reasonably priced. Modern decor.

This place is definitely a standard craft beer drinking establishment in the Northern Virginia of the Washington DC.
Despite its name, there isnít much rustic about this place. It is very contemporary, with beautiful, yet weird glass architectural structures on the walls.
The food menu may not be extensive, but the quality of the food they have there is stupendous! My wife and I ordered fries with ranch dressing. What they brought out were orgasmic golden, freshly cut potato strips, with tons of yummy spices, and tossed in high grade ranch.
Our waiter knew a little bit about the beers. For instance, he knew that "Katherine the Great," while classified as a Russian Imperial Stout, is not exactly what one might expect from that style (more golden in color and fruity in taste).
I was a bit disappointed in brew selection the particular night that we went. Some of the more popular drafts were out, including: Founders Breakfast Stout, New Holland Icabod, and a couple of others. Some of the rare gems: Bruery Mischief, Avery IPA, Founders Dirty Bastard, Bellís Two-Hearted, and a few others. They also have an extensive bottle selection.
Iíve heard many say that they think the restaurant is overpriced. I disagree. My wife and I split a pretty good sized pizza for $14-15 bucks, a huge vat of fries $8, and two beers each. Since we went during happy hour, the beers were $2 off each. We walked away more than satisfied, even if our waistlines felt stretched afterwards.
