Went here on a warm Sat evening. Not much going on inside. All outside seating is at picnic tables & I snagged the end of one to view the crowd. Beer selection didnít have a lot of better quality stuff, but did have a number of beers that I hadnít seen before, including one that is soon to quit being made. There are several small bars scattered around serving customers inside and out. Staff is friendly and helpful but didnít seem to know much about beer. Later at about ten pm they were having a reggae theme on the sound system and the crowd found a groove. I met a couple of local guys and we jawed for a couple of hours about this n that. Mostly a younger crowd. Iíd return if ever I was in town again. Also I did forget to pay my tab and returned the next day and settled no prob.

Alice Springs is a tough place to drink. Alcohol sales from bars and stores stores is illegal before 2PM on weekdays, and there are lots of dry towns in the surrounding desert too. Monte's is a haven in the desert! Decor is funky roadside attraction with circus and carnie-kitch decorating the sprawling interior, and it's also got a large kid-friendly beer garden with a wacky playground. Soundtrack was funk and blues. A dozen taps with a decent set of micros including Mountain Goat. They claim to have 45 different beers, and with what's in the bottle fridge they probably do, making this the go-to place for drinking beer in Alice Springs. Only Wed-Sun from 3PM.
