| bp (47), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | November 15, 2009 This place is pretty tacky but they do have a lot of cool older beer promotional items hanging around, tons of taps with some pretty nice stuff (Port Brewing, Allagash, Southern Tier, etc). I love that you can get 4 sample sized beers of anything they have. Allows you to go through and try/rate a lot of beers without having to get trashed. Didn’t try the food but it looked and smelled like good bar food (Deep Ellum isn’t too far away and I would recommend eating there). Bottle list was large but I wasn’t impressed with the options (maybe I am spoiled being from Philly). Anyway, if you have only one place to stop in Boston this would be the place. | | bonk0076 (13), Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | November 9, 2009 My girlfriend used to come here when she went to BU and took me here when we were out east this fall. Prices were reasonable considering the area, selection was very good, but nothing really rare. Definitely will come back if I ever end up in the area again. | | yemenmocha (61), Glendale, Arizona | | October 5, 2009 Sunset has the largest tap selection in the Boston area by a wide margin, and everything I ordered was fresh. However, everything I ordered was a recent release and/or a beer that "turns over" rather quickly - including Southern Tier Creme de Brulee, Founder’s Breakfast Stout, etc.
Prices for these beers was reasonable given the high cost of living in the area plus the rarity/exclusivity of the beers. Food prices were normal.
After two visits I’m surprised how wonderful our service was on both occasions. Servers were knowledgeable, prompt, professional, friendly, and I didn’t find this anywhere else on our Boston visit. | | Tweety (10), Vancouver, Washington | | April 29, 2009 Great tap selection, but probably a little excessive, when they have 110 on at a time, it gives one pause when ordering one of the rarer offerings, cuz you gotta wonder how long it’s been there. The food is unremarkable at best, but not a bad place to grab a pint or two. | | Adam77 (12), Eastampton, New Jersey | | April 15, 2009 This was crazy. Stopped here with 5 of my friends. We are did boston beer works before so we were already a couple deep. I wish we came here instead. They handed us like a 10 page menu filled with just beer broken down into each category. I remember them having Utopias on tap but it was $300 a bottle or $20 for a 1 1/2 oz. Crazy. It took awhile for us to get seated but it was jammed pack upstairs and down. My friend already had a Mississippi Mud by the time I ordered. Haha. My other friend tried a SA Triple Bock for the first time. That was hiliarious when he gagged. I went through a bunch of IPA’s. Wasn’t over priced. I must hit if you’re ever in boston. | | beerbuzzmontreal (20), Montreal, Quebec | | March 16, 2009 This is a very nice pub, decorated with lots of beer related stuff and the athmosphere is pleasant. There’s a very large selection of beer, both on tap and bottle. A lot of people told me that some taps at Sunset were problematic, but every beer on tap sampled was fine. The food was very good and the servive was fine. This is a great spot to eat and have a couple beers. | | infinitetease (11), Tucson, Arizona | | March 4, 2009 Went there on vacation a few years back.
The BEST draft selection I have every seen, with lots of east coast selections that I was unfamiliar. (I’m from the left side of the countrty.)
We were there in the afternoon. Sever was very knowable and friendly.
Had a great time and would love to go back. | | JeremyScott (11), Taunton, Massachusetts | | January 31, 2009 The beer list is out of this world......but the fun stops there, parking is a nightmare, the crowd is very loud and obnoxious, the food is mediocre at best....although not that knowledgeable our server was very polite and attentive....and again, the beer list is superb so worth the visit at least once just to see it. | | dogfish120love (14), west hartford, Connecticut | | October 1, 2008 The beer list is huge, but like the RB tour guide says there is alot of filler beers, and nothing to rare by any means. While there I had a black mamba which was just so so, there where alot of beers i wanted to try, but didn’t have the time as we were meeting friends in boston. The ambiance is very laid back and extremely casual, so don’t dress up to go there. | | kiefdog (101), Tampa, Florida | | August 31, 2008 One of the most amazing tap selections that I have ever seen. When the server asked what we would have after just a few minutes of pouring over the 112 beers on tap, it was impossible to answer. Unfortunately, there is just not enough time in the day to sample all the beers they offer. I was most surprised that the tap list was accurate. They actually had everything listed including 4 Stone beers, several rare american craft and belgian beers, and many others. The bottle list is overwhelming as well. Food was excellent too. No complaints from this trip. A must stop when you are in Boston. |
