74 I’m not crazy about their love affair with Penn State, but the food is good and they have a decent beer selection. Clean restaurant as well. |
72 Located across the street from a mall, Champs shares a parking lot with a Hampton Inn and a Cracker Barrel. As the name suggests, it’s a sports bar theme with the ubiquitous flat screens. They had 35-40 on tap. Nothing too adventurous but some solid local and regional crag options. They also had some bombers and Belgians at bar prices. It wasn’t anything particularly memorable but for Altoona it’s probably 2nd only to Knickerbocker tavern. |
78 Big fan of this place. Solid rotating tap list, reasonable pricing, growlers to go. Foot is rather good for what’s to be expected. Big, delicious sandwiches, great appetizers. This place is only surpassed by the Knick in selection, but the family friendly atmosphere and good food makes it a must stop in Altoona. |
68 Basic sports bar kind of atmosphere. The staff were attentive but not exceptionally knowledgeable. Very nice tap selection and a good number of bottles. The food was much better than I expected and the prices and portions were quite reasonable. Probably the best beer destination in the Altoona area. |
