| troubles (91), Tel Aviv, Israel | | May 20, 2012 Great place, don’t read rest of the ratings, just visit. | | YULbier (209), Brno, Czech Republic | | May 18, 2012 Great place to discover dutch beers. | | sic1314 (33), Leiden, Netherlands | | May 18, 2012 Another of the world’s great beer bars. Knowledgeable staff, excellent beer choice (especially bottled), very interesting guest German bottles. | | Petronius (24), Seattle, Washington | | May 17, 2012 The beertender was chatty, friendly, knowledgeable, laid back. Beer line-up is very much to american taste. Interesting place, loved Anderson Valley coasters on the tables. There are two shady rooms plus benches on the sidewalk. | | fdomig (14), Feldkirch, Austria | | April 6, 2012 What a great place to drink and taste new beers. Service explained a lot and beers were awesome. | | BlackHaddock (175), , England | | March 29, 2012 This has been a favorite of mine for years; it has been at the top of Amsterdams beer tree ever since I first went, when I was a baby.
It is very much a no nonsence beer bar, clean, tidy and busy at all times, with locals as well as us tourists. I even managed to get one of the seats outside once, but it was early! The staff seem pleased to serve you and will help choose a beer if you wish.
The beer selection on tap is ever changing and always in tip top condition. It is a classic beer bar and must be visited if you are in Amsterdam.
| LomYst (8), Rotterdam, Netherlands does not count - explanation | | March 22, 2012 bit of a stretched out place, not that much room... very nice service and a good selection | | Martinus (70), Nijmegen, Netherlands | | March 22, 2012 Visited on Friday during the Dutch Brettanomyces Days.
Good service, fast enough considering the crowd that was inside. Nice atmosphere, bringing together quite a lot of beer lovers from all over the country. Good selection.
I’m appreciating the organisation of an event like the Dutch Brett Days, as sour beers are not for everyone, I think it took some courage but it was a very welcome addition to the Dutch beer scene. | | DutchDrebus (18), Oirschot, Netherlands | | March 19, 2012 I think i’ve happened to drop by on a bad day (Saturday during the Dutch Brettanomyces Days). There was only 1 person behind the bar, which wasn’t enough that day. There was some problem with the cash register and the only bartender wasn’t available because he was calling the whole time. He did come to our table to apologise, but still it was a bit of a bad experienceI don’t blame the waiter personally for this, but it could’ve been managed better i think.
The pub looks great, authentic and they have a nice selection of beers. I didn’t try their food. I will rate the service with a 5, but that’s based on 1 bad experience. I’m sure usually things are better.
Also, a lot of the beers that were on the menu were sold out, which was a bit of a bummer. We waited for over 30 minutes for a round of beer, just to find out that 3 of the 4 beers we ordered weren’t available.
I’m sure that if i go to Amsterdam again i will give this place another shot and i will have to upgrade my rating, but i have to be honest and i can only judge from 1 experience right now and that experience wasn’t great. | | Benzai (47), Oirschot, Netherlands | | March 17, 2012 Bad experience! Just one person working, takes over 25 minutes for the guy to bring us the beer. Even though the reason appeared to be an error with the ’kassa’, it took way too long. Lousy service today, hope it’s an exception. Also they were out of a lot of beers we wanted to try. Just not good. As I said, a bad experience today. |
