10 reviews for Midnight Sun Brewing Company
| Aggy360 (10), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska | | April 4, 2009 [ Updated May 31, 2009 ] Wow, the new place is great! There is a lot more room. You can SIT and drink a few beers now. There is a nice line of taps so the selection has gone way up from the 6 in the old warehouse. I still need to go on the new tour of the brewing facility but this is a major set up from the old place. I can’t wait until they get the kitchen up and going for food and beer. Good Job MSBC!!! | | CMUBEERMAN (49), Madison, Wisconsin | | August 27, 2008 Pretty good selection to take home. Not incredibly friendly and prices for a couple of bottles were higher than the stores. They also charge for samples...even if you buy more than $140 worth of shit. Their beer is good though. | | josarah (68), Hinesburg, Vermont | | August 11, 2008 These guys are great, we got there at noon, not realizing that they don’t open until 3pm. No problem they opened the door and took great care of us. It’s not fancy, but who cares the beer is great and the people could not have been nicer. Oh yea and the beer is awesome. All of their bottled beers were avaible refrigerated. | | savnac (57), Palmer, Alaska | | July 31, 2008 [ Updated October 25, 2009 ] Update for the new facility. WOW, what an upgrade. Located in an industrial area that can be hard to find the first time. Ambiance is industrial with a sleek, modern, clean look with lots of concrete, brick and steel. Great service, they keep 2-3 people pouring during peak hours. Selection is great, up to 16 beers on tap, 4 sodas and a cooler full of 22oz bombers of core and seasonal beers. You can also get kegs and growlers filled although some of the special beers on tap are "buy the glass only". Value is good. Overall this is a great place. You are limited to 36oz per person to consume on site because of some dumb city or state law. | gator2683 (7), Anchorage, Alaska does not count - explanation | | July 3, 2008 stopped by to pick up a case, was not there on a tour day. Good selection of midnight sun in growlers, and a half dozen on tap for samples. ambience is lacking since its just a garage, beer cooler and cash register, but the quality makes up for it | | TomDecapolis (69), Skippack, Pennsylvania | | July 9, 2007 Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon before leaving Anchorage AK. Basically a garage in an old warehouse in Anchorage, AK. The kid pouring the beers was great. I was there for hours just chatting with him about beer, Anchorage and Midnight Sun. They don’t do tours on Saturdays but when it slowed down he took me for a walk through
They only bottle and sell growlers here. The hours are limited so make sure you check their website. While I was visiting the owner and one of the brewers Ben Johnson stopped in. They chatted with me for a while and even helped me pack up a box of beer I purchased. Ben made sure the stuff was packed well and even send me on my way with a few bottles they didn’t have out in the coolers for sale. Thanks for a great visit! | JRBowie (4), Atascosa, Texas does not count - explanation | | March 10, 2007 Great little Brewery parking is a little tight but worth it. | | boboski (16), Alabama | | December 23, 2006 Friendliness goes a long way to increase the score for ambiance. What beautiful products are crafted here. Tour was very interesting and I wasn’t spoken to like a novice. I wish I could’ve tried everthing on tap, luckily what I couldn’t try was available in bombers. | | Braudog (476), Dayton, Ohio | | July 17, 2005 Best beer in Alaska, period. Friendly crew at the brewery. Try and stop on a Friday if you want the "tour", but whatever happens, buy their beer! | | PorterPounder (180), Tallahassee, Florida | | September 12, 2004 Great little up and coming brewery located on the outskirts of Anchorage. Gift shop is only open for a few hours during the week - so plan accordingly. Usually have about 6 on tap for sampling or growler filling. You can also bring in your own container - saw a hunting guide come in with 12 empty apple juice bottles to be filled up with their Sockeye IPA to take out to the bush. Also have about five or six bombers on sale. All of their beers are of above average quality and available through most of Alaska and part of the NW. Spoke with the general manager - very friendly and familiar with Ratebeer - even remembered my name when I came in a week later! Stop by if in the Anchorage area. |
