| jcnielsen (26), Kansas City, Missouri | | May 11, 2012 Pretty decent brewpub. The beers were average, but nothing special. I would come back here if I was in town, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. | | Brigadier (127), Bloomington, Indiana | | February 13, 2012 Stopping in on a busy Saturday night I only had time to try one or two beers. The atmosphere is similar to places like the Great Dane in Madison - kind of dark and bustling with people looking for an alternative to mass market choices.
At the time I was there the options included about seven local taps, a number of guest taps, and also around a half dozen bottles for takeout. Pint pricing was fair though the best deal seems to be happy hour when it costs $2.50 a pour. The beers were solid enough to make me consider returning.
If you can find parking across the street in the ramp this is one of several places to visit in downtown Ann Arbor. Take a pass on Grizzly Peaks and Blue Tractor; hit this and the Jolly Pumpkin Cafe instead. | | blackflag321 (18), Lansing, Michigan | | January 16, 2012 Busy Saturday nite, but not long wait. A couple of good beers with decent food. | | adnielsen (277), Fort Collins, Colorado | | November 29, 2011 Nice homely bar that really reminds me of Mountain Sun in Boulder, Colorado. Nice decor, decent beers, good service. I’d go back here though I found the beers quite underwhelming (especially the bottles I picked up in Detroit). | | jerc (211), Toronto, Ontario | | November 20, 2011 2011-11-12. Relatively busy Saturday night we grabbed a high top by the window. The building is interesting, I like the character of it but having just come from Jolly Pumpkin it felt like a well worn student vibe versus a characterful grown up venue at JP. The beers we had were just okay. We didn’t eat here. Overall it is all right but other than to try the beers I’d probably choose Ashley’s or JP over Arbor for a night out. That said, I did like it and if the beer was just a bit more exciting that would bring it up the list.Prices are quite cheap.
| | paintedmaple (36), Fenton, Michigan | | July 27, 2011 Been here a number of times and at times food & drink were very good and other times pretty damn bad. Last time out - real bad - the food tasted old and the Tripel seemed to be laced with hand soap. Yuk. | | shadey (45), Rochester, New York | | July 22, 2011 Great spot to stop while you’re walking around down town. Had food and drink here. The bartender was a little distracted and not very engaging, but the beer was good and the ambiance was pleasant. Definitely worth the brief visit. | | JulienHuxley (64), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec | | July 13, 2011 Visited late on a Saturday night. Not very many people there, so the volume of the ambient noise was quite alright. I liked the decor, the place had a cool vintage feel to it. They had a nice selection of beers on tap, cask and bottle. I had their porter on cask which was well done, and a bottle of their oud bruin which was very tasty as well. Prices were quite reasonable. We didn’t try any food. A good place I would surely revisit. | | KPD (64), Michigan | | June 28, 2011 Nice place to down a few, friendly, some good beers, the dry stout, porter on the hand pull, if you like cascade hops the IPA on the hand pull. Food ok, busy nice crowd, if in Ann Arbor should stop in.
The monthly tastings they run are really fun and the owners are great folks. | | RudiNicole (77), Michigan | | June 4, 2011 Stopped in for a pint while I was visiting various brew pubs in A2. I liked the decor, and the bartender was willing to chat and answer questions. Not my favorite brewery, but an overall good experience. |
