| JoePeesie (63), Long Lake, Illinois | | August 29, 2011 It’s not a store that you might expect to find a great selection at while driving by, but if you stop in and head to the north end of the store they have a great selection of American craft and Euro quality. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They good a good selection of "rare" brews as well and if you are a regular they are usually willing to hold a bottle of the the rares off to the side for you.
Only 2 things that made them an 88:
1. You are going to find some dust on the bottles (unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it they are not in a huge craft market)
2. Because they are not part of the big local chain their prices tend to be about $1-$3 per container pricyer than their comp’s within 20 miles (a range I feel that is an acceptable drive if you are shopping not just grabbing a bottle or 2) | | esjaygee (204), Oak Creek, Wisconsin | | October 23, 2010 Nice selection of brews I can’t get in Wisconsin just over the border in Antioch, IL. Pizza Port, Port/Lost Abbey, Green Flash, Ska, Flossmoor and a handful of other offerings. Prices are a touch higher than I’m use to at home, but nothing outrageous. I’ll stop here when I’m in the area! Service was decent, the attendant answered all of my questions. | sgsoxfan (2), Spring Grove, Illinois does not count - explanation | | November 2, 2009 Great selection of beers, largest in Lake county they say. | | muzzlehatch (255), Burlington, Vermont | | October 21, 2006 Pretty much what redlem mentions; some nice finds for me especially amongst the fairly large German section; usual midwestern emphasis on E Euro stuff for whatever reason. OK prices....lots of parking....good Scotch and bourbon selection. I wouldn’t be unhappy if I had this store within a few minutes’ drive but it isn’t worth going out of your way for if you live closer in to Chicago. | | redlem (65), Ohio | | July 18, 2006 [ Updated July 20, 2006 ] Their import selection is actually larger than their micro selection, weather this is good or bad I will leave up to you. Imports mainly singles ( euro, english, canadian), micros mainly 6-ers( IL,WI, and MI). Usual IL selection. About 10 miles west of Rt-41 on Rt-173. If you are in the Chain -of-Lakes region. |
