So Iíve come to this place about a dozen times because I used to enjoy the vibe here but recently some prejudiced hick - I can only assume the manager - wouldnít let me in with a Canadian driverís license. It was a Wednesday afternoon with like three people in the bar. After 2 years living in D.C. this is the only place that has ever done this. More than the rule, which technically legal or not, the issue at hand was the guyís condescending attitude.

Visited with GenDV110+OT after a Saturday trip to several VA breweries. I frequent Spacebar all the time, and so had been meaning to come here forever. Somewhat disappointed. Same great regional/national beer lineup, more food options, but the ambiance and service are just not as good for me. All orders are taken at the bar, like at Spacebar, but are done at a specific location at the tiny bar, which causes a long line and eliminates the ability to have any meaningful conversation with staff about new beers, etc. Food was pretty good.

Been to their sister bar plenty of times but finally got to visit their original bar here on Friday night. Easy two block walk from Clarendon Metro Station. Comfortably busy on a Friday night around 11:30 PM, a few open tables. Slightly different layout from Spacebar but it has the same sort of pub service with all ordering at the bar. Good amount of tables and a small L-shaped bar. Friendly enough service. Good selection of mostly local DC/MD/VA beers with some more obscure VA offerings, pretty similar to Spacebarís list. Food has grilled cheeses like Spacebar but they also have a bit more variety with hot dogs, nachos, chili, cheese steaks, etc. Had the beef cheese steak with jalapeno and bacon, hit the spot on a night of bar crawling. Eggplant fries were a nice change from the usual tots, wish Spacebar had them. Average prices for the area, pretty identical to Spacebar with 4 oz pours adding up. Well worth a stop if youíre around this area, would definitely come in more often if Spacebar werenít closer for me.

Unpretentious and inviting atmosphere. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. As everyone mentions, itís very small but Iíve been fortunate enough to not encounter any huge crowds during my trips here. Tap list rotates frequently and has a nice focus on Virginia beers. Never managed to try the food which Iíve heard good things about. Prices are great for the area. One of the better spots in the area.

This murdering Confederate den is home to a venue with many more than the twenty taps listed. Weird, teacher-oriented clientel get the confused barman to pour all sorts of stuff to any lay beer lover who may have wandered in by sheer accident. A good sele tion on taps. Have neither tried the bottles nor the food, although the ubiquitous smell of the later makes me sick at times. Will return one day. In the future, someday.

Some could describe Galaxy Hut as a "dive;" however, as one who has spent many a wonderful times in "dives," I would choose words like "homey," "comfortable," or "low key." In any case, this quaint litte spot - hey, "quaint" is another good word - is the antithesis of the usual DC area bar in that it lacks the obnoxious, self-important douchebag and the accompanying phonecow with her incessant, monosyllabic blathering. QH is a quiet place that attracts unpretentious beer lovers who seek a placw to have a pleasant chat, drink some decent beer and relaaaaxxx. Live music at night. Yes, it is small: the size of an apartment living room with a few worn tables and a small L-shape bar that seats about 12 on bolted bar stools. (ala Brickskellar.) The pale blue walls are adorned with the work of local artists. They have about 20 taps with beer priced by the size of the glass you order: ie, pint or goblet. The server was excellent and attentive. The food is your basic pub grub and must be ordered at the bar benaeth the sign. Somewaht like a British pub. That said, they offer tater tots, a comfort food that everyone loves - much like puppies.

Casual beer-centric rough-and-ready dive well liked by hipsters because the place is actually, casually, hip rather than intentionally, blatantly hipster. There is a difference. Order at the bar, which could have been annoying if the place had been any busier. Smaller pours available, very nice for those stonger beers. Thank you for that. Plenty of oddities on tap, enough to make a night of it. Didnít try the food but it smelled greasy and delicious.

Place is fairly-small with strange artwork all over the walls. More of a dive bar, though not necessarily in a bad way. Bar in the back right corner where you go up to grab your drinks; no servers walking around, but thatís not normally too bad since the place is quite small. That does get to be a big issue when itís really crowded, especially in the summer when the patio is open. Selection is quite good for the area. Fun events and a rotating selection. Wide assortment of styles and breweries. Normal value for the area. A nice place that I like to head to every month or two.

I love the huge selection of higher alcohol beers at Galaxy Hut. Friendly staff, good bar food (including lots of vegetarian options), and a constant selection of 20 rotating taps. Capacity has been tight recently, but I think theyíre expanding the back patio. Come early if you want a seat at the bar. I think they somewhat rotate the beers in themes - had 3 very different barleywines on tap a few weeks ago, and I think 3 or 4 different Double IPAs last night. Dark interior. A nice change from the typical Arlington bars.

My first visit and as advertised, though they donít have that many taps the ones they have are not so common. I am tall but I still could have used a booster chair for the bar. Get some taller stools! I loved the way people lined up to order at the bar. We need a new rating parameter, not ambiance but Character, cause this bar has it.
