| musinj6 (19), St. Louis, Missouri | | May 7, 2012 People are very nice and the beer they had on tap was good. Unfortunately, only 2-3 brews on tap of their own make. Good selection of other local beers, but still only a few. Great outdoor seating and I could see how this could be a great local hang out. I’d like to see more from Green Man. I think they can bring it! | | gvmdw7 (31), California | | March 25, 2012 I really wanted to rate this place higher, but they only had 3 of their own brews on tap. The atmosphere was awesome; it’s every man’s dream cave. They did have plenty of guest brews. My favorite place in Asheville so far (out of 5). | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | October 7, 2011 October 2011. This place has a groovy atmosphere, essentially the prototypical hippie brewery in Asheville. The first time we tried to visit during their advertised open hours, we were dismissed ... not sure why. but the following afternoon we visited and were pleasantly entertained. The beers are solid all the way around ... and we really enjoyed all the Green Man-themed decor and uber-friendly crowd. Would definitely include this in my top 3 stops in any return to A-ville. (#553) | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | August 26, 2011 Located in what looks like a converted garage. I love tasting rooms in converted garages. How many people out there would love to but a brewery and a bar in their garage? They also have a patio area next to the bar. The massive flat screens tuned to Fox Soccer were a unexpected yet pleasant surprise. They had 4 house beers and 5 craft taps, The beers were solid with nothing overly reeking of awesomeness. I might go again but only if they had something special on tap. Keep in mind also they have no A/C and only 1 bathroom. | | magsinva (55), Virginia | | August 26, 2011 Located in a converted garage, with a nice covered patio to the side. At night they turn on green spotlights to giving the brew kettles a ghostly cast. The brewery has 5 of their bears on tap and 6 guest taps. They have 3 flat screens running soccer and nascar as the large fans run in the background. There is no A/C, so plan accordingly. | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | April 8, 2011 Very laid back. Great beer and music. | mstrauss13 (1), North Carolina does not count - explanation | | January 18, 2011 Great little hole in the wall. Beers are awesome and place has personality. TV’s are huge for viewing games and nice little outside covered area. I even bring my own food and they will fire up the grill for you.
But... the beers. They always have some special brew that is only available there. A few standards and often some guest beers that are hard to find. Almost always something in a real cask too! | raszputini (1), North Carolina does not count - explanation | | January 10, 2011 Great little dumpy brewery bar. Soccer on TV. All the Green Mans on tap, including the enormous Kill Devil Stout barrel aged Russian Imperial. Pretzels and mustard that will burn the hairs out of your nose. | | petey (14), Fayetteville, North Carolina | | January 1, 2010 Good beer. Also like the outdoor seating. | | NachlamSie (354), Tennessee | | December 6, 2009 This is a really rustic, homey tasting room. It has the bare essentials: beer, darts, a TV, a pisser, and spicy mustard with pretzels. The place has a classic feel to it. I really enjoyed my stop. The bartender was helpful, friendly, and all around jovial. Some beer magazines are available for reading pleasure. Cool little stop. It’s a great way to try some new Green Man beers with less of a crowd and commotion than Jack of the Wood. |
