| Hussey (12), North Carolina | | March 16, 2012 Killer place! Awesome bison burgers and Green Man brews. Incredible staff/wait folks. Knowledgeable and they take great care of you. Great music. I enjoyed drinking my porter outside the establishment while taking in some afternoon rays. Always my first stop when visiting Asheville. Gets my soul straight for the weirdness that follows . . . | | tmongoose (41), Louisville, Kentucky | | January 25, 2012 stopped in late on 1/19/12...late enough to hear last call. there was a small jam session going on in the corner stage area. it was dark in there so really didnt see much of the place. green man brews on tap i think 4-5 of them plus several others from the area. the place was quirky with a cool vibe. normally when i get by there they want a cover $5 but not willing to fork it over that night it was free...willing to go back again in the future to check it out in more detail. | | hellbilly (130), scottsdale über alles, Arizona | | October 19, 2011 stopped in 7/15/11. the place was nearly packed around 4 pm... nothing wrong with a bar full of peeps all drinkin’!
typical dumpy dark irish-style pub with atypical great attentive service. 18-ish taps of which 4 were greenman house brews. i didn’t eat but the menu and food looks tasty (hormone free, made in house and sustainable are good things to see/hear in a pub atmosphere). this would be a pretty chill hangout. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | October 5, 2011 Right on the main drag, this Green Man outlet also has a sturdy lineup of regional brews. Was happy to find the Duck Rabbit Milk Stout on tap -- had been looking for it. Tough spot now with the Thirsty Monk right across the street, but worth a stop for sure. | | Shag (46), Chattanooga, Tennessee | | September 8, 2011 A small bar in the heart of Asheville. They serve a small rotation of taps include 3 Green Man brews, most of which I liked ok. This does not have the geek friendly environment of the Thirsty Monk across the street. It had kind of an Irish theme and was more or less a crowded dive bar. Rather loud as expected. This seems like an ok place but not amazing. | | Elwood (83), Leesburg, Virginia | | July 18, 2011 This is a decent little place. Beer wise you can get some of the Green Man brews, none of which blew me away though. The Menu had some different items on it (parsnip fries, scotch eggs) which was nice. Glad I stopped by but I would probably save liver for a couple other places. | | emacgee (57), Carrboro, North Carolina | | July 10, 2011 Stopped in here in the middle of the day so it was a pretty chill scene. To my memory they only had house beer on draught and it was a pretty good spread. None of the ones I tried were too stellar, but they weren’t bad either. Right across the street from The Thirsty Monk so I ended up going over there and trying some nice stuff. Jack of the Wood has a cool layout, kind of dark with lots of wood which was nice. | | mstoffan (10), North Carolina | | June 9, 2011 An Irish-style pub with local Green Man ales and other beers, along with an excellent selection of single malts. Food is decent pub grub with a Celtic theme. Service is good and it can get crowded. | | jhumphries69 (33), Tyrone, Georgia | | May 10, 2011 Cool place - dark interior full of dark wood. Nice bar with attractive taps, a beer engine, and impressive selection of single malt Scotches. The house brews (Green Man) were the best that we had while in Asheville (I ended up nabbing a growler of their IPA from Bruisin’ Ales on the way out of town). We showed up when they first opened, so I’m not sure what it’s like in the evenings, and we didn’t get a chance to order food. But we liked it. Would definitely go back. | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | April 8, 2011 Irish band playing...good mood here. Watched some tasty looking dinners go by. |
