Last time I went to UJ they had Olde Hickory Stout on tap. Nuff said. Seriously, it’s a great place but not a must, although I’m a huge fan of how this place, Westville Pub, and Hops and Vines for a nice "Beer-muda Triangle" in West Asheville. Selection tends to be a little more interesting here than at Westville.

Another great local joint. The outside patio is packed on nice evenings. Beer choices are excellent and change frequently. Food is typical pub fare and quality can vary from visit to visit. Service is always good and the staff know their beer. A nice place to hang in funky West Asheville.

When in Western Asheville, this is a fantastic stop. We stopped in on a Thursday night and the ambiance was lively, but not packed to the gills. A nice patio was available though it was raining pretty hard during our visit. The menu looks good with typical Asheville type cuisine, but we had already eaten before our visit and couldn’t consume more solids. The beer list, like many places in Asheville, is very solid. Mostly local beer was represented but a few things from Stone, Victory and the like were available. What made this a mandatory stop was the fact that they had Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout on tap. With such a solid, rotating beer list and a rare gem like that on tap, I would stop back in the future just to see what they had.
