72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Lemke10 (18) Janesville, Wisconsin | January 24, 2013 Grabbed some lunch here on a Monday while on vacation in Ashland, WI in Spring 2011.
South Shore Brewery is part of the Deep Water Grill which they have a resturant, bar, and a brewery for drinking there and they also bottle for retail sale; the closest place to buy it is right across the street at Star Liquor. The service was the standard good service you expect. Had a standard variety of sit down food/meals as well as special seafood dishes. Got a lot more food than I was expecting for the price and it was nice to have a local store made brew instead of the major macro-brews which were only $4 a glass. Something nice to try if up north! | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 JK (205) Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota | September 3, 2012 September 2nd, 2012. A nice place, I understand this is their third location. Good, cheffy menu with a lot to choose from. my sausage was ok, but their wild rice soup is excellent. Service was as attentive as necessary. Try a beer flight for only $5. There are not a lot of options in this area of Wisconsin, so I recommend a stop here. It is only 25 miles from White Winter winery. | 66 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 BVery (323) Burnsville, Minnesota | November 18, 2011| Updated November 19, 2011 Visited on Nov. 18, 2011. Awesome atmosphere - very cozy. Only had 5 beers on this day and the service was just okay, but a good experience nonetheless. I had the chicken enchiladas, which were terrific. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 bookman10 (17) Osseo, Minnesota | October 27, 2008| Updated November 19, 2011 Excellent food and nice variety of beers on tap. The ambiance was very cozy. We were in a snug booth with its own little light. Tried the Nut Brown Ale, their signature beer, and was very pleased with it. Also gave the Coffee Mint Stout a try. It was interesting, but the mint flavor was pretty overpowering. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back next time we’re in the area. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 BDR (61) Roseville, Minnesota | June 3, 2007| Updated November 19, 2011 good service in a very nice looking bar. Food smelled good but didn’t try any. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 muzzlehatch (255) Burlington, Vermont | August 16, 2006| Updated November 19, 2011 Beautiful place right downtown, nice use of wood, dark green and brown furniture, huge comfy booths for big Wisconsin bellies; 2 nice looking bars and a cool balcony....food was good, a black bean burger and outstanding waffle fries, fairly typical menu....samples on the small size, and most not that good though nothing was terrible. A worthwhile stop but I can’t imagine going out of my way for it unless perhaps on the way to White Winter Winery in Iron River, or up to Bayfield. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 auerbrau (278) Peace Dale, Rhode Island | March 27, 2006| Updated November 19, 2011 Decent place. I wish they rotated their beers more often and had a little bit bigger selection. But they achieve what they set out to do. Food is pretty decent and prices are good. Cool building. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 jewedekind (36) Middleton , Wisconsin | June 21, 2005| Updated January 26, 2007 Is a nice setting, esp considering where you are. I really don’t go for the nautical theme too much. Bar is very nice, bartender was hungover...always a good sign. Friendly place. Food is fine. Beers are above average, with some originality. The old train station location was much better..but this is a great place to visit. | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 badgerben (81) Blaine, Minnesota | January 15, 2005| Updated January 26, 2007 Walking into this place was like strolling into a lodge in the middle of the Northwoods. Beautiful wood and dark green motif. The staff seems to have a clue about the beer they serve, which tends to be 4 regulars and 2 seasonals. I had the beer cheese soup which was probably the best I have ever had. It’s probably not worth the trek if you’re only in Duluth, but if you’re crossing Northern Wisconsin anyway, be sure to stop. |
