Not conveniently located. Cozy place, though. Cool beer list, decent taps and even better bottles, lots of unusual beers, lambics, ciders. Service was friendly, knowledgeable. Not terribly expensive, considering the beers they were serving. Nice place overall.

(2012 US backlog recollected in abstinence). Visited twice 09/2012 while staying in relaxed, Burrito-truck-embellished Queens. Charming little upscale hobo/hipster beer bar with thoughtfully composed tap list (ciders, Belgians, locals, far-offs) and food (sandwiches, cuts) that looked good - if it wouldnít have been for that truck across the road... Upmarket value for the area (pints $6-8), cool but attentive service with barmen that looked fully into the game.

not a crazy number of taps, but always something very good on tap, and usually something local. they always have kombucha ale on tap, which is incredible. everything that iíve ever eaten here has been absolutely fantastic. they have a very impressive bottle list, which great variety in style and price. and iíve never seen a better cider list ANYWHERE. theyíre clearly committed to maintaining a top notch beverage list to compliment their wonderful dining menu.

If this was closer it would be way farther up on the list. The Kickshaw is probably one of the best looking beer bars in the city....really tasteful DIY rough hewn warm and industrial with NYC architectural details. The bottle and tap list is very well chosen and personal...the best kind. The staff are incredibly friendly and the owners at least are serious beer people. The food is all grilled cheese...and they are phenomenal. The coffee is some of the best I have had anywhere. Canít say enough good things about the Queens Kickshaw. I wish my girlfriend still lived so close.

Great local place in a part of the city not known for cool beer bars. Nice urban space, some rotating taps and a very nice bottle list. Didnít try the food but hear it is alright. If youíre in Astoria, well worth a visit, but I wouldnít feel the need to travel here if I were in other parts of NYC.
