| decaturstevo (80), decatur, Tennessee | | April 20, 2012 Parking is a pistol but it is worth it. Food was good. We had a salad and pizza it was top notch. Beer selection was nice as well. | | RobertDale (19), Lansing, Kansas | | November 8, 2011 Visited while attending a convention. Good downtown location. Decent prices. All of their brews were pretty average. Worth stopping by. | | Bart (74), Brussels, Belgium | | August 5, 2011 Found this place by accident in downtown Atlanta, and I loved it immediately. Nice buzzy atmosphere (certainly during lunch) Very good and decent food. Nice own brewed beers and a large selection of demestic, special and imported beers. If you are in Atlanta, a place to must visit. | | JCB (120), Durham, North Carolina | | December 27, 2010 Every seven years or so, I’m at a convention in Atlanta and it’s a treat to hit Max Lagers for decent brews near the big hotels. A pleasant environment, conventional brewpub with mahogany and copper tanks, two floors and plenty of seating. Food is above average for this sort of place, even if well short of gastropub fare. And the beer menu is nice too, with plenty of domestic craft in bottles and on tap, in addition to the solid offerings brewed on site. Over the several days of conference madness, I ended up here three different times with different folks and enjoyed it each time (ended up getting a good sampling of the brews as well). Friendly, inviting, a good place. | | CheersMate (132), Fremont (Seattle), Washington | | December 1, 2010 This place is so frustrating. They could really catch a crowd if they just focused a bit more on their beer. Honestly, I think if they forced the brewer to attend a brewing school, you could really have something special. I went with my brother and sister-in-law. The food was pretty good. Some of their food is expensive, and well worth it, but some of their other stuff, not so much. I love the fact that they have their own house brews. They really could give 5 Seasons a run for their money if they just tweaked some of their damn recipes. The service was pretty good, but nothing mind-blowing. Overall, give this place a chance. They seem to want to be a great place to go to, but they just need the proper manager to guide them in the right direction. | | markwise (124), North of Tampa, Florida | | October 19, 2010 Went for lunch when I was at a conference. Was able to sample some of their beers, but I was the only man the bartender had to wait on, and it took me about 50 minutes to get my food. They were a bit busy, but the service was a bit lacking. The beer was pretty good, and the food was tasty, at downtown prices. Would go back to hang out, or if I had a bit more time. | | Glouglouburp (259), Montreal, Quebec | | July 11, 2010 Well located from the business hotels area. Big old casern-like building. Inside is nice, very open, high-ceilings, lots of bricks, lots of wood. A few large tv screens on sports channels but not too intrusive. They had 7 home beers on tap and a not so exciting list of about 50 bottles. I had an imperial stout that is not on ratebeer yet and it was actually pretty good. As usual the girlfriend went for the pils. I took a sip and thought it was a very poor example of the style. So based on my limited experience I’d say the beer can be hit or miss. Food has some greasy pub fare but also a pizza speciality and expensive steaks and such. We ate there and I was pleased with my relatively cheap meal. Bottom line, this is a place worth visiting if you want a good pizza and a beer. I wouldn’t spend more than one hour there since it had a basic restaurant atmosphere and on a lucky day I don’t think I’d find more than two interesting homebrews. | | Goodgrief (27), Middletown, Delaware | | July 7, 2010 Typical casual restaurant feel, a little loud inside. If you go there for food, it’s pretty good, actually. Had a filet mignon which was pretty good and the selection of appetizers I’ve had there the couple times I’d visited were all pretty good. The house beers were not really all that memorable and maybe it was bad luck, but both times I went there, taps ran out and beers listed weren’t available. The bottle selection from other brewers was pretty good. | | chrisv10 (45), , Denmark | | June 1, 2010 [ Updated July 15, 2011 ] Nice service. You can sample their four taps. Ok bottle selection besides their own beers. Ok food. | | Hank1980 (42), Athens, Georgia | | March 4, 2010 Centrally located in downtown Atlanta. The food outpaces the brews but, neither are bad. The beers can be hit or miss. The food isn’t really that upscale, but certainly decent for a brewpub. The space is nice with an upstairs with pooltables and space for private parties. Overall, a decent place with decent brew and grub. Parking is a pain, better if you can ride or walk. |
