Favorite place in town.

Pretty cool little stop. I sat outside which kinda sucked because it’s right on Lamar which is noisy as hell, and if any wind kicks up you get dirty and cigarette ashes in your beer/food. Otherwise they had a great selection of beers. My friends and I found several things there that are not available in north Texas. The food was also pretty tasty but came in average serving sizes. Could have used more. We were blessed to see Austin Leslie walk up to the bar while we were there too! How cool, a legend!

Nice neighborhood bar feel with pool tables, shuffle board, and a patio. The patio can be loud but not offensively. Friendly bartenders that were very knowledgeable especially about the TX beers. There were about 15 beers on tap mostly craft and definitely focused on TX beers. Food was better than average bar fare and included tater tots. Great value here since a sandwhich with tots and three beers were only $17. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for TX beers.

Overall, the food is great and they have a good selection of beer. It can get overly crowded with South Austinites who want to make sure you know that they believe they are better than you, but perhaps when I get a few more tattoos I will be accepted. Again, the food is great. The few times I have been, it seems like the staff is stretched a bit thin, but they are friendly. A bit small but the outside deck/patio area makes up for it and is good for people watching. The parking situation is not great so expect to walk a little.

Beer selection is good. The outdoor section can get noisy with trucks rolling by on S Lamar. Best thing about Black Sheep Lodge is the food. Some of the best and consistent burgers in Austin!

great south austin neighborhood bar resturant. great selection of tap beer and bottled .hamburgers were great. check it out
