This place has a great interior and a small beer garden as well. It has a wide selection of taps and bottles with staff that know what they’re talking about. The only downside is that it can get fairly cramped on the weekends, so parking and sometimes seating can be difficult.

The Draught House is fantastic. The beer selection is broad and deep; that their house-brewed beer is exceptional is icing on the cake. This past fall Josh brewed a run of Saissons that rivaled the belgian Saissons which is no small feat! The crowd is great and is there for the serious business of hanging out with their friends and drinking great beer, rather than trying to be part of a "scene". The bartenders know their beer forwards and backwards, and while they can be a bit gruff when busy, they are all great to talk to when the rush ends. Great beer garden and rotating food trucks complete the good times. Do not expect to win a tee shirt for drinking x amount of beer or some kind of goofy beer passport. Your reward is getting great beer for a fair price with great people.

An Austin favorite, it’s always hopping. This tavern has lots of indoor and outdoor seating with a great historic look, superb beer selection and food trailers nearby

Fun stop on a Friday night in TX. Parking is a bit hard to get. Massive selection of draft beers, but it can be hard to really decipher what exactly is on tap. Service was decent. Good atmosphere. Slightly annoying that the pass through between the pub and the patio is a one way door. I’d definitely be there pretty frequently if I lived in the area.

Stopped in for a drink late on a Friday night. Old Alpine-style building and woody old world interior. Flat screen menus above the bar were allegedly new and seemed a little out of place. But it does make ordering easier since you have to do it at the bar and the line goes straight back to the door. We sat outside on the large patio. Crowd was mostly out there. Nice people. No house food that I saw but daily food trucks outside. People tailgate here for some reason. Odd but funny and cool, I guess. I’d like to come back and drink more and hang out at the bar when it’s empty. I’d visit here if I were you and visiting Austin.

Legit! I love that they have 1/2 pints and let you have tastes before you order...pretty fast service and a good value (you’re not paying downtown prices!). The patio outside is pretty chill, although they could use a little music or something (it IS austin, after all). Selection is well-chosen, not huge, but better than I was expecting and definitely some odd/rare beers are usually available. Just GO!

Based on the shape, or functionality, of this place, I think they are kicking ass. Selection is quite excellent and knowledgeable emphasizing Texas craft beers. Staff knows their stuff. Kinda stupid busy on Tuesday so I forgive them and the rest of the week service is excellent. Especially Boston guy. I feel they are trapped by limited space and that is what holds back my ratings. What a cool place.

This is the closest I’ve come to a true English pub in the United States. Think Dragonmead, but even more English. Loads of guest taps and about four house-brewed beers at the time of my visit. Cozy, rustic, laid-back atmosphere. No TV to be found. Big wooden tables and an area outside with picnic tables that served as the perfect place for a rb/ba bottle share that was going on during our visit. If I lived in Austin, this would be my regular haunt.

(Visited 08/2012): Draught House is located in the North Loop area of Austin on Medical Parkway. The street name and physical location may both lead you to believe you are in the wrong place but it is there. They have a somewhat small lot that was packed on my visit, but there is street parking in the surrounding neighborhood too.

They have a patio outside. The interior is cozy and dark with a worn-in feel. The bar is directly in the rear. There are some tables in the rest of the space. A line forms at the center of the bar as there is no table service. Collection of tap handles and various breweriana displayed.

The place lives up to their name, with around 75 draught options from breweries like Deep Ellum, Real Ale, (512), Thirsty Planet, Deschutes, Lazy Magnolia, Rahr, Austin Beerworks, Hops & Grain and St. Arnold. Several bottled options too.

Service on a relatively busy weekday evening at the bar was good. I was served by different bartenders and they were all on their game.

I did not have any food on this visit.

All in all this is definitely a spot worth seeking out for a solid selection, especially for Texas brews.

Stopped in during a quick visit in Austin. An old dark wooden looking building with a bit of outside seating and a few TVs. Definitely been around for a bit. Bartender was solid during my visit. Selection was really nice with some great taps as well as their own beers. Didn’t sample any food on my visit. Prices were very affordable and one of the better places in Austin.
