58 Same as the others, better than the Highland store. Nothing special at this one. If you aren’t near the Brodie Ln one, it’s worth a quick pit stop. |
84 Excellent selection of beers from far and near. Just a take and go, but when they do events they are great. Must stop place for beer in Austin. |
58 I agree with other raters - beer is definitely the sideshow at this liquor & wine store. That said, they had a decent selection worldwide bottles, and they want a pretty penny for the really good ones (even with the cash discount). Although for the size of the store, the selection should be even better. It was hard to find the deals, but I got a few. They didn’t have many 12oz singles available, mostly bombers or 750ml bottles. The staff didn’t seem to knowledgeable or passionate about beer at all. |
66 Huge store, mostlyliquor but theback wall has quite a few beer. Not reallydominated by BMC. Mostly 6 packs plusa couple dozen bombers, figured outearly to ask what special stuff they have in the back. |
88 Unfortunately due to the vendors this store can’t always stock everything that is needed for the customers. The staff works hard for the pay. Limited space in the cooler means that not all beers (including IPA’s) have to be kept on the warm shelves. With that said, the food from the deli is excellent. |
64 I figured by my 20th visit, I may as well rate the place. Beer is definately the unwanted child in the attic here- half the beer inventory is on shelves at room temperature (including MANY IPA’s- buyer beware), but at least they recieve seasonals- somewhat on time to everyone else- sometimes. More alcohol than beer here, by an easy 4 to 1 margin. Does have a deli inside, but I’ve never got anything to eat here, let alone known anyone who has. Service- very hit and miss. I used to chat it up with several workers there, but it’s clear within 10 seconds that some are there for the beer while others are just drawing a paycheck. Price- on average with everyone else. Overall- well, it’s Spec’s- if you’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all in my book. While it’s within walking distance to where I live, it makes me miss Grapevine everytime I go there. |
62 It’s a Spec’s store. In Austin. Probably the go-to place in the city. |
66 They have their ups and downs - definitely cater to other products more than beer, but that’s the case of most liquor stores. That said, they have close to all available product and generally good pricing and even decent sales now and then. Pay in cash/debit and get slight discount. (why they don’t chill some better beers I don’t understand) |
