| Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | September 3, 2011 (Visited 01/2011): Imbibe is in Bakersfield west of downtown off the Blue Star Memorial Highway on Truxton. The place is actually a little tough to find and we passed it before realizing you have to circle around behind the buildings that are on the street. Parking is plentiful all around the building.
The interior is laid out with a sort of bar area immediately on the left that has a few beer taps. The bottled stuff is in coolers further back. Draught beer and bottles can both be consumed on site which is always nice. There is a corkage fee to drink the beers there but they didn’t seem overly eager to enforce it. The rest of the store is pretty much devoted to wine, and they have some "pay by the ounce’ options available.
As for the beers, they carry goodies from Port, The Bruery, Rogue, Oskar Blues, Hair Of The Dog, Deschutes and many more.
Service was friendly on a weekday early afternoon. Despite the place obviously leaning toward wine shoppers, the staff was more than happy to help us with pouring and purchasing beers.
Overall this is my kind of shop, and definitely one of if not the best places to buy beer in the Bakersfield/Tehachapi area. | | beorn7676 (10), Bakersfield, California | | January 24, 2010 [ Updated June 26, 2010 ] Best selection of craft beer in Bakersfield. Only place in Bako that has Alesmith, The Bruery, Lost Abbey, Port, and Hair of the Dog. Decent selection of Belgians. To top it all off they now have a pretty good rotation of beers on tap. | | GerryDublin (10), Fresno, | | October 3, 2009 Decent selection, prices a little higher than other places. Im from fresno but i frequent the area for business trips. If you want a great selection in this town check Westchester or Countryclub. | | weanus (10), Central Coast, California | | October 3, 2009 [ Updated October 4, 2009 ] Where is the beer?? A very small selection that differed from some of the other stores in Bakersfield. I found out that they drive up some beers from the LA area (hopefully not in this heat) that are not available from their local distributors. Unfortunately we found the staff to be snooty and unhelpful, focused more on selling wine than beer. It is a pretty new store but the attitude will more than likely keep us from returning. | | IrishBoy (82), Bakersfield, California | | August 13, 2009 [ Updated October 19, 2009 ] NIce, very shiny, well decorated new store that carries Port/Lost Abbey, BrewDog, and Alesmith. First time these are in Bakersfield. They are even getting Speedway in for Odeed! Prices reasonable and a great but limited selection. |
