mcdoug (6), Middle River, Maryland does not count - explanation | | April 9, 2012 Nice selection of beers, and very happy they have several cask ales. The presence of nitro-poured beers is a pretty neat bonus as well. The food I’ve had has always been pretty good, though like many places downtown they’re a tad pricey. Service from the wait staff is typically well above average, and most servers seem well versed on the beers. Only one bad experience w) staff, and that was when a young female hostess made it obvious that she considered seating my wife and I a terrible, bothersome task. Looking forward to their Spring Real Ale Festival! | | BeerandBlues2 (358), Lone Tree, Colorado | | January 28, 2012 This is an old, historic building in Baltimore with loads of history. Steve and Derek still brew in a brick-walled kettle with ceiling beams well below 6’. The interior is fairly open with a large bar and many taps. There are usually 3 hand pump beers, a few nitro beers along with the typical CO2 delivered beers. The servers are helpful and friendly. The food was pretty good and well-priced. | | seekingup2 (13), , | | December 12, 2011 Nice little spot right on Pratt St near inner harbor. Sat outside. Service was decent. Nice selection of beer, but the only two I really enjoyed were the Red and the IPA. Food was average, although there was a lot of choices on their menu. I wont rush to go back, but I wont be staying away either. | | JCB (120), Durham, North Carolina | | November 26, 2011 Spent a couple hours here on a recent visit with some esteemed colleagues who also enjoy the kiss of the hops. Kind of an unassuming atmosphere, typical bar you might see just about anywhere (though if you’re traveling, this one’s right next door to convention-land, as is Alewife). But the Olivers offerings I had were very satisfying in general, with a good range of session beers, casks, seasonals, and the like. Pretty good joint that doesn’t seem to get a lot of run. | | mikem409 (40), bloomfield, Michigan | | October 13, 2011 swung by on the way to the tigers/orioles game. nice find did not even knowof the place. the ipa and red were good beers and the price was right | | Ret12 (10), Maryland | | September 5, 2011 This place is a nice cozy place in Baltimore with a couple of very good beers on tap. Service was a little slow which is why I gave this place a lower rating but the place was packed. | | willblake (81), Bel Air, Maryland | | July 2, 2011 Large but homey feeling place that’s usually crowded with young professionals or sports fans. The beer selection is vast and solid across the board. Menu is extensive, mostly pub fare, nice daily specials, usually very good. Given the location across from the convention center, I think it’s reasonably priced. Bartenders are super friendly and attentive, but often swamped because the place seems to always be hopping. Parking is a bitch, or you can just pony up a Jackson to stow in the public garage. I’ve yet to be disappointed by this place. | | KPD (64), Michigan | | June 28, 2011 [ Updated July 10, 2011 ] Nice pub, same beer, brewer, owner, etc as Wharf Rat in Fells point, not sure why they renamed it. It is really nice to find a brewer in the US not just brewing hop monsters IPA, double IPA, triple IPA.
They had a great English bitter and esb on the hand pull, and most of there beers were english style and really good. Staff were nice and reasonable. Food decent.
If you are looking for good english style ales don’t look any further. | | picknbrew (13), Mechanicsville, Virginia | | June 5, 2011 I arrived at this place a little before four on a Saturday and easiliy got a spot at the bar but it quickly filled up not long after with baseball fans. Nice selection of their own beers accompanied with some others. The service was ok, the disposition of my bartenders varied. As it got more crowded the service got slower. My only real complaint is that the bar tenders could have been a little more knowledgable about the beers brewed at the brewery like who collaborated with them on the Channel crossing. Nice clean ambience. Plenty of outside seeting with prime people watching opportunities. Close to many attractions including the Inner Harbor. | | Robert209 (10), Maryland | | May 4, 2011 not a bad joint at all , food was good too |
