86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 jonas (27) Garching b. München, Germany | April 14, 2013 Nice shop, not just for the beer. always love to stop in and browse when I am in Baltimore. Really great selection | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 orangesol (73) Pennsylvania | February 24, 2013 Stopped in here earlier this week. I have always heard good things, figured it was time to finally check it out for myself.
Atmosphere was pretty good. A very nice feel to the store with all of the bottles laid out before you. People milling around in the aisles looking at bottles of wine and such. Service was good as well. I was asked multiple times if I needed help and when I did need to know a price they were quick to find out the answer.
Quality was pretty high. Lots of top notch wine, spirits and beer throughout and even some snacks to boot. They even had some rarer spirits / beers that I hadn’t seen in awhile. Beer selection was pretty solid. Lots of locals mixed with the typical national offerings, and even some more obscure overseas offerings too boot. Prices were more than reasonable in my book. Overall a really solid bottle shop, I will definitely return the next time I am in the area. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 downender (227) Bristol, England | December 29, 2012 Visited on 6/12/2012 after a 20 minute walk from the Baltimore Museum of Art. Pleasant drinks warehouse that offered a wide range of six packs, 22 oz bottles and foreign imports. There are several shelves of 12 oz singles, which provided more than enough choice for a foreign visitor, but were looking a bit depleted. Prices were very reasonable and service friendly. Well worth a visit. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 BeerandBlues2 (458) Hanover, Maryland | January 6, 2012 This is a nice, open liquor warehouse in an interesting Baltimore neighborhood. There is a large selection of beer, wine, and spirits, including a decent cider and sake collection. Beers are available on shelves and some in coolers. There was a wide variety though not nearly as much to choose from as Stateline or Perfect Pour. The staff seemed friendly but stayed out of my hair and let me browse. Overall, prices are great for the area. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 9er (4) Maryland | December 20, 2011 My man Jed gets it done. He and the rest of the staff are very helpful and their beer selection is superb. Wine selection is average. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 rudolf (100) Buffalo, New York | July 12, 2011 A bit warehouse-ey, but that’s fine - I’m here for beer, not ambiance. They have a solid selection of beer, though it is much less than what is available at The Perfect Pour. As Willblake mentioned there is a wall of 12oz bottles you can buy singles of. I did find bottles of Stillwater’s A Saison Darkly here that I was unable to find anywhere else in town. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 willblake (81) Bel Air, Maryland | July 2, 2011 Among the best selections around, probably second (distant) only to State Line for stores within an hour of me. Enthusiastic and friendly staff, but they’re not always lingering around the beer area. Nice but small selection of singles. Prices are tops, often head-scratchingly low, and generally making it worth the long drive. Great wine prices, too, for those interested, and a small but outstanding selection of cheeses. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 moocow9386 (11) New Haven, Connecticut | December 28, 2010 This place will always have a special place in my heart. The service here is great. The staff is usually pretty helpful for both wine and beer. They know what they have and don’t have. The store is modern and well organized. It does get crowded on a Friday or Saturday evening and can be difficult to find parking. They seem to have nice turnover in their beer, which is nice to see. Selection is definitely above average. There are a good amount of six packs in the freezer and on the shelves. There is a good variety in style. They do have some 12 oz singles, but the selection is small. This isn’t the place to come for a BYO 6 pack, but great to come for a more uncommon import or micro. They do a lot of tastings too. Most of them are wine, but they have some beer if you hit it right. Overall the place is really classy and feels like it belongs more in Mt. Washington or Baltimore County rather than Hampden. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 Steeeve (36) Ambler, Pennsylvania | November 8, 2010 Made the trip out here after the lady at the Heavy Seas brewery told us it was the only place we could still find The Great Pumpkin on the shelves. Not only did we find plenty of them, but I was pleasantly surprised by the rest of their selection. In terms of wine... wow. I dont really drink wine, but the 5 giant aisles of wine from seemingly every country in the world tell you all you need to know. They have a nice selection of import beers. Lindemans, Rochefort, Delirium, Chimay, and plenty of others. They have a huge selection of 22 oz bottles and 4/6 packs of American micros. The only thing I found to be lacking was the selection of 12 oz singles, which comprised only one small shelf in the corner. Cant make any promises about freshness either, as it seemed a lot of stuff was quite dusty. Still, it’s a big one-stop-shop for all your alcohol and accompaniments, with very friendly and helpful staff and average or better prices. Definitely will go back if I return to Baltimore. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 scottw86 (22) Maryland | October 3, 2010 A great little beer store! The focus is definitely on wine, but they have a surprisingly good selection of beer with very good prices. The service is very friendly and the store has a great atmosphere. I like that the registers are set up like a supermarket so there are multiple people to check you out at any time. Sadly, you can’t take singles from six-packs, but they do have a shelf that is made up of singles that are already taken from six -packs, so you have some choices. Overall a great store worth checking out. |
