| Bjarte1 (40), , Norway | | May 2, 2012 How can this place survive with so many nice places nearby? Typical modern german brewtap which can be okay when you are in northern germany, but not in Bamberg. | | BlackHaddock (175), , England | | March 29, 2012 Completely different to all the other brewpubs and bars of Bamberg. This is bright, young looking and airy.
Plants, flowers and light woods everywhere, not smoke stained yet or dark anywhere that I could see.
Very quiet on my visit (Friday lunchtime, 29 Sept 2006), so the atmosphere was hard to judge, but it was a pleasant experience all the same.
The young lady behind the bar had a nice smile and brought our beers to us very swiftly, so service was good.
Only two beers on draught during my stay, helles and a dunkel, both looked, smelt and tasted fine, but nothing to exciting about them, sorry didn’t review either, other things on my mind (like where’s the next bar at?).
Not a place I would use on a regular basis if I lived closer, but still a bar I can recommend, to the under 40’s mostly.
| | madthom8 (52), Twickenham, England | | March 28, 2012 Visited March 2012. A pleasant enough joint, obviously very old in places, done up in an attractive style. The brewing vessels are on prominent display. I went twice. On the first occasion I tried the sampler which only had two house beers and Schlenkerla Rauch. The weizen beer is not available this time of year due to lack of sales. The Hell was good, although nothing too exciting. The Dunkel had an unattractive cloudy brown colour, had little CO2 and was warm: poor. I visited again to retry the Hell in a 1/2 L glass. Same results: pleasant enough but no strong flavours. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | December 10, 2011 December 2011 - Based on the ratings here, we hadn’t necessarily planned to visit this one. But it’s conveniently located right at the bottom of the stairs from the Domplatz, so it offered a nice respite from the cold and rain as a mid-sight-seeing stop. We just tried a couple beers (neither worth writing home about, but pleasant enough). The food looked to at least include some things outside the regional styles (I saw some creamy squash soup and a flat bread). It’s right near Schenkerla, so it’s worth popping in. (Brewery #568) | | YULbier (209), Brno, Czech Republic | | November 18, 2011 WARNING: TOURIST TRAP. Beers are way below average, to say the least. I sat next to the brewing system, and it stinked like crazy. The floor in the brewery was half cleaned and spent grains were rotten on the floor and in the drain. And this was the part open to public... disgusting! Food was un-eatable: a flammkuchen covered with uncooked onions and fat-only bacon. Only good thing is the cuteness of the waitresses... | | ogivlado (242), Zagreb, Croatia | | November 7, 2011 Right next to Schlenkerla, moderate big place with three house beers. Much less crowded than in Schlenkerla, so we decided to have a dinner here and ordered mixed sausages plate which was very good (especially those hot sausages). | | Cuso (82), Bratislava, Slovak Republic | | August 12, 2011 Nice beer pub in Bamberg. Beers are OK, good choice is Bierprobe, where you got 3x0,1l of their beers. Food is good, typical for region, staff is perfect. Worth for a visit. | | Bryne (153), , Norway | | August 9, 2011 This brewpub opened in 2004 and lacks the authentic, rustic Bamberg atmosphere. The beers are nothing more than average. I went for a "Bierprobe" which is 3x10 cl with Hell, Weizen and Dunkel. (Visited June 28th 2011) | | downender (196), Bristol, England | | July 25, 2011 Visited 12/07/2011. Sat indoors, which was fairly quiet but cool on a hot day. Dinkelbier was OK and stuffed onions were tasty. Service was pretty good too. Not Bamberg’s top destination by any means, but worth one visit. | | lushawn (164), Boston, Massachusetts | | July 3, 2011 outdoor seating in front . conveniently located next door to schleckera. inside has large skylight, many plants, brewery equipment. good service. samples of 3 beers brewed in house, .1 liter pours, 3 euros for the three samples. worth stopping by for house beers, central location. |
