| IPFreely (92), Lewiston, New York | | June 8, 2008 More of a stop for food, I was pleasantly surprised at the beer list. Fairly decent Belgian selection along with some good taps, most of them being local. The Allagash Black on tap was very nice. Good food, with a predominantly seafood oriented menu. The Calamari appetizer was very good and the lobster was great. Nice interior, although we sat outside on the patio. Decent service and we got our food very quickly. A worthwhile place for dinner and a few nice beers. | | LadySusan (77), Ste-Therese, Quebec | | August 22, 2007 This place is in the heart of Bar Harbour`s tourist attractions. The service was slow, the food was good and the beer selection was very nice. It does get loud later at night, but it is summer. It is not my first choice for a good beer and meal in Bar Harbour. | | MartinT (348), Montreal, Quebec | | August 9, 2006 A nice, casual restaurant on Main Street Bar Harbor with an unusually large beer selection for the area. Quite a few Maine taps, focused on Bar Harbor breweries of course, and a quality selection of Belgian ales in the bottle (Westmalle Tripel & Dubbel, Orval, Duvel, etc.) If you have ever beerhunted in Maine though, you probably won’t find anything you haven’t had before here. Lots of pretty waitresses running around, so not much knowledge about beer really, but they do their job well. The food was good, but I expected more from reading the menu. All in all, a satisfying restaurant to grab a beer or three while lunching and tourist-watching. | | Hawksfan17 (46), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | June 11, 2006 I sat out on the patio for lunch. The turkey sandwich and quesadillas were very good. Most of the food looked good as well. They had a decent selection of beer. I was able to get a few beers here I couldn’t find at some of the other bars. The waiter we had was a little too friendly, but he gave me some tips about good hikes and good beer. | ruggedman (9), Portland, Maine does not count - explanation | | July 7, 2005 [ Updated January 13, 2009 ] Selection is great at Rup’s. Beer, cigars, and food they’ve got everything here. Well decorated, the outside patio is great for dining. The 3 bars are great for drinking. The deck and Joe’s are great for smoking. Can’t beat this place...a must go when you’re in Bar Harbor. | | muzzlehatch (255), Burlington, Vermont | | November 10, 2004 Really nice restaurant specializing in seafood (duh!) with a slightly cajun accent, and the biggest selection of beer in town at decent prices...mainstream Belgians and lots of Maine stuff. Next to the brewpubs, top stop in town I’d think. Nice patio in warmer months. |
