| JStax (43), Devola, Ohio | | May 8, 2012 Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. At first, the place wasn’t too busy, but the longer we stayed, the busier the place got. We eventually decided to move our drinking to the outside bar where, surprisingly, nobody else had figured out was empty. The bottled beer selection was supremely impressive and organized about as well as anybody could request. Everything was organized by style. It was easy to find something if it was there. The draft selection was quite impressive, carrying mostly seasonals, imports, and one-offs. They definitely get the most out of their 8 taps. If you’re into whiskey at all, they have a 69 page whiskey menu. The staff was all very helpful anytime I had a question. Burl, who took care of us for most of our visit, was very knowledgeable and able to talk about any beer we decided to talk about. The place is a must-stop if you are in the Cleveland area. If you don’t, you will have missed a golden opportunity. | | rhialistic (13), Denver, Colorado | | April 2, 2012 One of the absolute coolest places you can go in Cleveland. Beer store and beer bar and whiskey and cigar bar all in one. Excellent service - i am from colorado and went in there in July, and then again in October and the bartender remembered my name and asked how i was doing! Not cheap but there’s no place like it and you can no doubt drink exactly what you’re in the mood for given that they will serve you any bottle on the shelves in addition to their taps. Awesome homemade potato chips too (didn’t have food yet when i was there) | SamsonAle (9), Novelty, Ohio does not count - explanation | | March 27, 2012 The selection speaks for itself. What amazes me is the great job they do rotating the taps and bringing in new, fresh, and interesting beers. I’ve been in several times and everyone I’ve dealt with here is very knowledgeable. Unlike the beer and whiskey selections, the menu is very limited, but what they have is very good. I’m glad I live fairly close to this place and have been telling a lot of people about it. | | jimmay (22), Waterloo, Ontario | | March 18, 2012 Great spot. Nice and easy to get to. Great service. The two guys were super helpful, pointed out some really rare stuff. A pretty decent slection, have seen alot bigger, but tonnes of rare stuff. Will go back if I’m in the neighbourhood. Not a place for cheap beer. Can’t comment of food, didn’t have any. Looks like they have lots of brewers events, including just recently with Nogne O, nice! | | fiver29 (48), Cleveland, Ohio | | February 4, 2012 I have visited here several times since they opened. There are a handful of places that get the best beer in town and this is one of them. Located next to the original Winking Lizard in town on the East side.
They have a handful of taps and hundreds of bottles. Bottles are divided by style and sit on shelves with dimly lit light. Staff knows there beer here probably better than I do. Real knowledgeable when it comes to everything beer and whiskey.
Overall a one stop shop. If I were on the East side this is where I’d stop for beer. They can chill any beer in minutes for you to drink at the bar if you like. Awesome beer always on tap. I didn’t rate the food as I haven’t tried it. Just a cool place. | | Brigadier (127), Bloomington, Indiana | | December 2, 2011 Located in old Winking Lizard site just off the interstate this is a must stop on Cleveland’s east side. Now that they’ve added a small area with tables and limited food service there is no reason at all to go next door. Just watch out for the parking which can be tough to find with people using the lot to go to the Winking Lizard.
From the day it opened Lizardville raised the bar for northeastern Ohio. With beers that I did not even know were distributed in the state on the shelves they are not afraid to take risks. From BFM to De Molen and limited sours if it is available you will find it here. Beers are available in singles as well; you don’t have to take risks with six packs to try that new local.
The only real knock is that prices can be high for the taps. While the pours are generous $8.50 a pop adds up very quickly. As a result I visit much less often than I probably would otherwise. Still if you are in the area check it out. | | bellatts (10), Canfield, Ohio | | November 9, 2011 staff is very knowledgeable and the selection is great !! cigars on the patio and great whiskey selection ! | | jmikolich (45), Brunswick, Ohio | | September 30, 2011 Went there after they posted on twitter about having some 3F and was first come first served, so I figured I’d take a gamble and head on over. Had 2/4 3F remaining and as soon as I hit the door I was greeted immediately asking if I needed any help. Shop help was attentive but not overbearing, though not knowing how much beer i’ve sampled still suggested plenty of offerings. Store is well laid out, plenty of bottles all organized by style, whiskey bar is impressive and tap list ever changing. Glad this business is thriving and perhaps looking to expand. | TheRikker21 (1), Ohio does not count - explanation | | August 25, 2011 I love this place. It’s like the ultimate man-cave. One of the best bottle selections in NE Ohio. Staff is very knowledgeable & friendly. This place has beer that I haven’t seen anywhere else in the area. If you chose to drink there, they only mark up the retail price by $1 for regular size bottles and $2 for larger bottles. | | MikeF (205), Cleveland, Ohio | | July 30, 2011 Great atmosphere - walls covered with beer shelves - nice wooden bar - and many kinds of whisky. The draft selections are 8, but very unique and hard to find beers. The bottle selection is excellent. They also have a great patio. One of the best beer bars in cleveland currenlty and I suspect it will get better. |
