DaveSDC (7), New Jersey does not count - explanation | | August 1, 2010 At first glance, the place looks like a typical Mom & Pop liquor store. Boy was I wrong! Love the selection of craft beer and they even carry growlers. I wish this place was around the corner from my house. Dave is super knowledge about beer! Loved talking about anything beer related, and helped with my selection. Will be back when we are out east again! | md311 (1), New York does not count - explanation | | April 13, 2010 Bellport Beer is an amazing place. Dave & Rich are awesome, friendly, knowledgeable and really know their stuff. I’ve tasted lots of beer but their taps consisted almost entirely of beers I’ve never even tried before. They encourage sampling, have great prices and were nice enough to save me 2 bottles of Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout, as it was selling quickly and I was coming from far away to get it. I’ll be back again when I’m out east again for sure. | BrooHa (4), New York does not count - explanation | | January 8, 2010 This is my Go-To place, my "home base". Dave knows a ton about beer as do Mike, Rich and Colin. I gave it a 4 for ambience because we’re talking about a beer store, right? So, as far as beer stores go, it’s a 4. It reminds me of my fraternity house and the fact that you’re always made to feel welcome and amongst friends adds to the ambience. Buddanyway... Very good selection. Mostly American Craft but that’s what we dig anyway. Right? Right? Multiple tap stations rotate QUICKLY and have many gems. It’s worth checking his blog for the Cheap Growler of the Week and to see what’s new and fresh. Dave hosts many tastings which are always fun and a good way to try some new beer- RISK FREE! BBQ is often prepared as well. Dave treats all his customers like gold and his regulars even better! If you’re beer hunting out in Suffolk, definitely stop in. You’ll find great beer and make some new friends. | | tgncc (49), Bellmore, New York | | September 11, 2009 A clean, well lit store. The service is excellent. The owner, Dave, is a great guy, and very helpful. He is also very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about craft beer. The selection is well above average; I found a lot beers here i couldn’t find anywhere else. Plus, Dave has a cheap growler of the week, where a 64 oz growler is only $6.99. (Usually it’s a great beer). The prices are reasonable. If I lived closer, I’d be here every week. | | PilsnerPeter (100), Flushing, New York | | March 8, 2009 Went out to this place for a Captain Lawrence event where Scott was serving his Barrel Select #1. Small, intimate place with a decent selection. Lots of American micro six packs on shelves when you first walk in, then there’s a shelf with bombers of micros. There’s a back room with a cooler and some other shelves of import stuff. Standard selection- not too extensive, but very fairly priced and Dave is one hell of a guy- so make sure you get to chat with him during your visit! | | IauditUUhateme (14), Coram, New York | | February 11, 2009 [ Updated November 19, 2010 ] I’ve been here numerous times. Kind of small, but packed with beer. This is not the best store on L.I. but it is the best place to find great beer east of the Huntington giants. It is also my favorite to shop at. The service is outstanding! Fun atmosphere. Dave & Rich are true beer guys. Even the kid that works there seems to know a lot about beer. You couldn’t ask for better service and advice. Sometimes when I spend a bunch of money they throw in a freebie or two. They have a blog that lets all of the regulars know what’s new, what’s on tap & what limited stuff is in. (They don’t put the rare stuff out on the shelves, they save it for the blog readers) The growler station (8 taps)occasionally has a stinker, but you can usually get something great. Awesome domestic craft beer selection. Imports are a little weak, but they do have most of the best ones. Macro’s are obviously not the focus here. The tastings are the best. Food & beer. Awesome. I’ll keep going back. | | LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | August 23, 2008 [ Updated September 20, 2008 ] Upon first glance, this place doesn’t seem too interesting. It has a pretty good selection that makes it one of the best places on LI (although they don’t really have any beers you can’t get other places on LI). They have 4 growler fills of pretty decent stuff. The owners are really nice and very helpful. Prices are very respectable. A good place if you’re in the area. | | Chapel (34), Levittown, New York | | December 20, 2007 [ Updated April 25, 2012 ] Went for the sixpoint tasting. Very fun atmosphere with lots of good people hanging around. Only disadvantage is that the store is rather small. That being said, they manage to pack a lot of variety. Best of all, if there is anything relatively common that you don’t see, odds are they have it in the back. (For example, they had the 6ers of Oaked Double Bastard on display, but no bombers of such. Dave personally went into the back to get a bomber for a customer.) Growler fills are a reasonable price also. This is an excellent place, but I wish it was closer to me. | | bigrond (39), factoryville, Pennsylvania | | November 14, 2007 this place is a nice find. Dave, the owner, will do a back flip to get you what ever he can. Amazing selection for such a small place. You can always find something new to try. | | bonbright7 (38), Bellport, New York | | August 26, 2007 I went there yesterday to see the growler selection of Sixpoint ales, which I found remarkable for the area. I found a great selection of beer leaning on the American side. The workers were friendly and helpful when I asked for something different. I found I had to examine every corner to ferret out the little surprises from DFH, Ommegang, and Left hand. |
