Brew pub & restaurant located in an affluent NJ suburban town west of New York City. Atmosphere tries to be upscale, almost too upscale for a hard-core beer fan, but still accepting if you get there early. Tavern has a great feel to it. Pub Food was good, pricey, but very fresh and well-delivered. Lots of their own brews on tap. Staff was very friendly, as were the regulars at the bar - I’d return, but in the winer to take advantage of the big windows so I could watch snow fall and drink home-brewed beers!

This place has no soul!!! The food was very good but $24.95 for shrimp & grits? $19.95 for fried chicken! C’mon. Had the Helles and the Porter - Helles was ehh, Porter pretty basic but good. Very nice space, fresh cut flowers, huge barrell of apples for the road which was really cool. Horrid muzak...how about a flat screen in the bar or two, seems like they are shooting for low country fine dining...which is okay but the prices and beer don’t warrant a return. Host guy was very nice.

Headed over for lunch. Food was OK and a little more on the pricier side. Beer was OK too.

We visited Trap Rock late on a Sunday night. The place was nearly empty and from the website I figured we might be out of luck, but sure enough we were able to grab seats and the bar and order food and drink. From the one previous poor review (from someone who joined that day, posted a bad review, and was never seen again...disgruntled ex-employee maybe?), I was slightly hesitant, but that guy could not have been more wrong. The food was priced in line with a whole lot of other brewpubs, including many that I have visited who provided much less impressive food. This place comes off as a mid level steakhouse and their menu reflects that. We ordered a few sides (the lightly smokey grilled asparagus was excellent, as was the mac-n-cheese). My wife ordered the soup of the day - an andouille gumbo which while she said was a bit too spicy, was otherwise up to snuff. I had the beer sampler to start, and man was that a deal. Decent sized pours of 6 beers came right away, and either because it was a slow night, or he was just a good bartender, he poured me samples of the other three things on tap as well. Ended up with nine sample beers large enough that I probably could have gotten by without ordering another full beer, but the IPA was solid enough that I had to. Overall a really nice place, nice laid back old feel, friendly staff, good food, and some decent beers.

My wife and I had lunch at Trap Rock today. Started with the cauliflower soup. It was so awful I had to send it back. Then I had the crabcake sandwich for $13.95 and my wife had the scallop special for $14.95. Know how many scallops you get for $14.95? Just 3. The crabcake was so small it only filled half the McDonalds sesame bun it was on. The coleslaw was swimming mayonaise and everything, crabcakes, scallops and especially the french fries was too salty. The beers we tried were an IPA, rye pale ale, and the Belgian blonde and were acceptable but boring. They have a light hand on the hops and take no chances. No flaws in the beers, but nothing to make them stand out. And did I mention the short pours in the small glasses? All in all it was one of the absolute worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. DANGER, THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF.

Nice cozy place. Reminded me of a lodge, lots of wood, which is a plus in my book. They had 8 on tap the day I went but the cask was unavailable. The food was pricier than I expected but I was mostly there for the beer and the company..both of which were awesome. The servers are professional, maybe a bit over the top at times but they know their shit. Can’t wait to go again.

Nice small brewpub. Upscale atmosphere. Food was a bit pricey. Beer was very good. I tried a sampler and enjoyed them all except the session beer. They had a real nice barley wine on tap as well. Staff was great. We were served a complimentary appetizer platter because we were there on a slower night. Can’t wait to visit it again.

Great place to bring a date. Warm cozy atmosphere and lost of great unique beers to try...all of which are made on premise. The bartenders are great, servers are wonderful, even the guys in the parking lot are awesome.

Went out to finally visit this place. The interior is nice, a light mix of rustic with simple/plain yet elegant. Low ceilings, nice long bar, and a dining area with large windows but covered with trees on the other side. Its an ’upscale brewpub. Lots and lots of wine here, which is actually better than the beer. I have been told some of the beer is contract brewed by High Point, which could explain the awesome pils. Unfortunately, the other beers ranged from ok to undrinkable. A good amount of taps, 8 and a cask. I was upset that the bartender gave me an IPA to go rather than the wonderful Pils I asked for. Food was amazing, had the pizza and loved it. A bit pricey, stop by if you are in the area.

This past week I had to go to the Doctor and have my truck in the shop in the same day. I was feeling better since the Doc ruled out a few things with universal certanity, but the truck ended up costing me a pretty penny. So to cheer myself up, I took the short two mile drive to Trap rock since I was in the neighborhood and figured that it would be nice and quiet for a Wednesday afternoon. The interior is wood, and lots and lots of it. It added to the coziness. The place was jammed with follks.....drinking wine. The wine selection was quite impressive 35+ behind the long bar. Eight beers on tap (including the one on cask) is a feat that is impressive since the entire resturant is on the smaller side. I sat at the bar and had a burger and a beer for $15. The barmaid was also serving tables. I will stop again since the garage beckons.
