Whole Foods Market - Berkeley

Pretty decent selection, not amazing. And it is just a Whole Foods after all.

As a beer store, this place is the weak sauce. I just read the Brew Tour Guide’s comments and my visit didn’t even have an echo of ’the best beer section in the east bay.’ I settled for a sixer of Dale’s Pale, let me put it like that.

Small store but good beer selection. I love Whole Foods.

Decent selection, as most upscale grocery stores, but otherwise, just a great grocery store. Maybe at one point in time it was awesome.

Great selection of beers. Knowledgeable staff. The parking sucks though.

There were 3 or 4 surprises. Bought 8 I had not rated. I think all the Whole Foods replaced a third or so of their beer wall with non-beer. Still, lots of choices, and you can buy individual bottles. Ommegeddon; Russian River Sanctification; Butte Creek Revolution XI; Drie Fonteinen; Santa Cruz Mountain. The Westy days are likely over; have not heard of anyone being able to stock it for the last three years or so.

i have never seen a westy 12 here or at any whole food market. the beer selection is definately good for grocery store standards. but it is definately hit or miss.

this place sucked. i was completely disappointed by the selection. nothing that any other whole foods in the bay area didnt have, and any decent liquor store for that matter. that essential star should be removed completely. AS it stands right now 3/24/2006, i would not recommend visiting this place unless you’re bored out of your mind in berkeley. but seems like it USED to be an essential. big let down

I’m updating my rating. Whole Foods is my corner store, so this is one of the places I come to grab a quick six pack. The selection has changed over the years. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes not. They have a smaller selection than other Whole Foods, but they usually have something good. They do a good job stocking seasonals. They frequently have new and/or rare local beers. The imports section is tiny, they may as well get rid of it and just carry local beer. But I’m not the buyer, so who cares?

nice variety of beers. You never know what will be in stock.
