6 reviews for Old Joint Stock
| berkshirejohn (79), Bracknell, England | | December 5, 2008 An incredible interior, but a soul-destroying atmosphere, very busy and full of business types in the early evening. Only Fullers beers available, and I can get those at home. | Camrakipah (3), Birmingham, England does not count - explanation | | December 20, 2007 Interesting for a change but with the Wellie just around the corner its not going to compete for Real Ale enthusiats. Nice atmosphere but a few too many designer shirts to allow it to feel homely. The service is friendly and the staff are happy to give you a taster. The selection isn’t bad for a city centre pub, mainly Fullers but the Beowulf is well worth trying. I understand that, as the name suggests, it was the regional stock exchange before dealing was ’centralised’ in that big town in the south east! | | DJMonarch (83), Northwich, England | | February 25, 2006 Went here after going to one of the festivals at the nearby Wellington.
Very impressive old building with an amazing high domed ceiling and lots of gold leaf embellishing the walls. Good range of Fullers beers available (sampled the ESB) and a solitary Beowulf pump.
There was a nice relaxed ambiance about the place, very pleasant. | | haddonsman (56), Derby, England | | January 24, 2005 Interesting conversion of a bank, one room iused to be the managers office. certainly light and airy. Full-ish range of Fullers draught and bottled, one Beowulf tap, didn;t see much else, beer was a little on the cold side, food was city-centre pricy but filling, service a little sluggish on a three-sided bar, popular office workers venue, not a bad pub away from the main drag and the shops. | | imdownthepub (85), Banbury, England | | June 17, 2004 Beautifully converted ex bank into a Fullers beer palace, plenty of interesting corners and very easy on the eye. The main problem I had was with the beer, it took ages to seve and I had to return it for quality, perhaps this is a one off, hopefully. | | DanielBrown (73), Birmingham (via Leicester), England | | May 24, 2004 A very nicely decorated pub, situated in a former bank. Fullers’ most northerly pub, with ESB, Chiswick and London Pride always on tap. You can also get Fullers’ seasonal range featuring the likes of Honey Dew, India Pale Ale, Summer Ale etc. The pub also keeps one tap reserved for local company Beowulf, which changes constantly to showcase their latest brews. A good choice in Birmingham City Centre. |
