Great pub since being refurbed. Now part of the Nicholson’s brand. Usually has Jaipur on tap which is always a winner in my books.

Nowhere near as good now that they no longer have Deuchars on tap.

The Shakespeare has long been a pub that I have ignored, as it has a slightly blokey reputation, whilst not being known for good beer. Now a Nicholsons’ pub, this is very similar to the Old Contemptibles (5 mins away), with the same well kept ales from an advertised selection. The fixtures, fittings and decor are beautiful and the pub could not be better located. The big front window is lovely and the atmosphere felt buzzing. Beer quality is good.
