| deyholla (90), Waukesha, Wisconsin | | May 17, 2012 My local brewery during college, the inside has a real nice feel with two tvs over the bar in and an expanse of seating. Staff is quite friendly and helpful. Food is quite good. Usually only one or two draft only beers and bottles are available for sale. Overall definitely worth a stop if you are in town. | | Brigadier (127), Bloomington, Indiana | | April 28, 2012 If you want to visit the Upland tap room try to go during the day or at off peak hours. Otherwise the place can be packed and with it being relatively isolated there’s nowhere to wait in the meantime.
That said, Upland is one of the must stop destinations in Bloomington. Even though they don’t put the sours or other rare beers on tap the combination of well crafted beers, a good ambiance, and great locally sourced meals make it an ideal place to pass the time. | | Immy (107), Virginia Beach, Virginia | | April 16, 2012 Loved this place - excellent beer and excellent food, the waitstaff ALL knew their beer. Lovely beer garden patio area. Hope I can return! Thanks big time to our server Renee! | kayjohns (1), Los Angeles, California does not count - explanation | | December 17, 2011 Amazing restaurant and brewery. After living in Bloomington for 6 years this is still one of my favorite places to go. It’s the best over summer, or whenever ever it’s warm out, so you can sit outside on the patio filled with christmas lights. I’m also a vegetarian and Upland has a ton of delicious options for me. The beer is delicious and of course goes well with all of their food. Perfect spot to fill a growler, especially with the whole no liquor sales on Sundays. Only downside to Upland is the size, it’s very small and usually always crowded, but there’s a reason for that and it’s well worth waiting if you have to. | | jsquire (47), St. Marys, Ohio | | October 31, 2011 This is a nice place if you are in the area. It is a big, warehousey space with a long bar. They have a nice sample of their beers. At the bar we had great service from a knowledgable and very pregnant lady. I’ve eaten here before, but we just drank. | | tronraner (110), Walland, Tennessee | | September 20, 2011 I visited in the late morning on a weekday. It wasn’t very busy, but the accoustics of the building make it such that minimal conversation is extremely loud. Also, they were blasting country music. Made for a stressful environment. The bartender was friendly and efficient. The beers were typical predictable brewpub fare, but solidly made. I ate a bbq pork sandwich and potato salad. I tend not to eat bbq outside of the south, but they use good local pork and it was pretty good. The potato salad was super bland. Nice place all in all, but I was a little bit disappointed. | | Thorpe429 (36), Alexandria, Virginia | | September 1, 2011 It’s nice to have the full selection of their beers available--not just what they’re currently bottling. Also, nothing like a fresh beer straight from the brewery.
The atmosphere of this place is pretty neat; I love the copper pipe housing all of the tap lines and coming down from the ceiling. The menu selection is quite good, and I’m a huge fun of their buffalo burgers. The service is usually quite good, and the staff does a great job on weekends when it gets busy.
Within the "service" category, I’d also mention that they give brewery tours every Saturday and Sunday, and the last time my fiancee and I went on one, it was only the two of us and another guy. Still, the tour lasted for quite a while and the tour guide was quite knowledgeable--we even had a nice discussion about the Bell’s issues in Chicago, as well as Stone’s trouble in getting into the Chicago market. | | JCB (120), Durham, North Carolina | | July 26, 2011 Good to see one of my old favorites thriving! Not only has this location expanded a bit, but apparently they’re set to open a location on the south side of town too. Upland owns this town, but it’s still the same comfy, down to earth taproom with terrific service, yummy food, and an excellent variety on tap. Buncha nice seasonals on tap (pilsner, tripel, one or two others) along with mainstays like Dragonfly and Bad Elmer’s. Always a pleasure, Upland! | | paintedmaple (36), Fenton, Michigan | | July 3, 2011 I love this place - only wish it were there when I went to IU. But it is my #1 stop when in B-town these days. The food is homemade and very eclectic and vegetarian friendly. The beers are all top tier. This place is cool without even trying - just easy goodness. Very highly recommended! | | Brandon8 (13), Indiana | | April 17, 2011 Good place to stop on a Fall day in B’town. Any day really. Can be tough to get into at peak times. Solid in all categories. |
