| deyholla (14), Bloomington, Indiana | | November 17, 2009 My favorite sports bar in Bloomington. This is mainly due to the great beer selection (for Bloomington.) Plenty of American craft beer available with an emphasis on Indiana beer. It is a huge place, so you can usually find somewhere quiet if that is your style. Food is what you would expect from a sports bar. Bartenders don’t seem to be that knowledgeable about beer, but other than that the service is fine. | | phaleslu (86), Cincinnati, Ohio | | August 16, 2009 Big, spread-out sports bar with an impressive lineup of taps and bottles for a college town. The food is pedestrian and the atmosphere is like any other sports bar, as is the service. The taps feature Abita, Three Floyds, Bells, Dogfish Head, Unibroue, Stone, New Belgium, and the local Upland. Like Scotty’s Brewhouse, most of these brewers have their most common beers represented, but at least there are quite a few of them. Unlike Scotty’s, there are a lot more bottles and a lot more impressive ones. | | EithCubes (76), Indiana | | June 13, 2009 Deceptively large sports bar with a lot of rooms and little areas and about forty taps. It’s not in the style of Monk’s or Kulminator or another beer geek heaven, but there’s always something worthy and a lot of love for the midwest micro culture. Also have Sprecher’s root beer. Good spot for watching multiple games simultaneously, and the place isn’t packed with undergrads in the summer. Direct comparison of my nachos with those I had at Upland the other day reveal these to be sorely lacking, but my neighbor’s wings got a decent review. Parking’s a bit tight but there are a few lots in the surrounding blocks, especially if you’re associated with the university and have a parking pass. Stable $4 pints are a revelation for someone who’s dropped a ton of money at Finch’s this year. | dubiousfrog (6), Bloomington, Indiana does not count - explanation | | May 27, 2008 Excellent beer selection, including Bells, Dogfish Head, Arrogant Bastard and many others. Thursdays is a good deal with 32oz mini-pitchers of microbrews at $5.25. Import ales including Bass and Boddingtons (which i wouldnt use to wash my dog) $5.75. | mgoy (3), Oak Brook, Illinois does not count - explanation | | February 20, 2008 One of the best beer selections in Bloomington. Yogi’s has many good food options and is a fun place to watch the game. The soccer room in the back makes Yogi’s a good idea at anytime. | | Optigon (41), Bloomington, Indiana | | July 2, 2007 Great place in the area for a selection of beer, however, the food is generally fried food and burgers. Nothing very interesting, particularly later in the evening.
The staff I’ve encountered usually aren’t very knowledgeable, so usually you have to leave your table to talk to the bartender, who is usually busy with the ton of college students who want less specific beers.
The service and food could be bumped up considerably. However, they have the largest amount of taps in town from my knowledge. | moorech (1), does not count - explanation | | October 9, 2005 The place to be in Bloomington. Large selection of beers and good pub food to go with them. Excellent service and ambiance. |
