| BiddleBrau (58), Fort Washington, Pennsylvania | | November 9, 2011 My first visit was in 1998 or 1999 on a business trip and I was overwhelmed by the beer selection. Now I don’t recall if it was great per se, just I didn’t expect to find anything other than Yuengling or Sam Adams. Food was real good.
11 years later I am in the area again and pleased to know my memory served me right when I stop in again and see they still have good beers. As noted in another review, this is two places. I ate outside recently and previously in the nice side. There is a dive bar as well. Overall, if I lived in B-burg, I’d be really happy to have a place like this nearby to try good beers. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | March 19, 2011 This is actually two places. Russell has more of a dive bar feel. It’s as narrow as a railway car and as dark as Batman’s soul. Kristy’s is lighter and brighter and roomier. They have about 20 taps with a lot of micros and Belgians to go with the bmc product. I must warn you they insist on serving draft beer in refrigerated glasses. What’s the point of having something like delerium tremens on tap and serving it so cold you can’t bloody taste it? And the prices are a bit high for the area. | | f351c4v (77), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania | | May 9, 2009 Visited on a Monday afternoon in May, after work. Place was empty, ended up sitting at the bar area. Bar was cozy, with maybe 10 seats, with a few tables and a TV in the corner. Nothing outstanding on tap, Leffe and a few micros. They do have a beer list, although a few bottle selections that I made were out of stock. They seem to focus on entry level beers from countries around the world. Food was great, as was the service. I guess this is a beer Mecca if you find yourself in Bloomsburg, otherwise, it’s nothing more than a nice restaurant with a decent beer selection. | | Birdiebeagle (44), Perkasie, Pennsylvania | | March 24, 2009 My first true beer drinking bar. Went to college there and they introduced me to beer. Not swill but real beer. Had a passport for beer around the world. AH to be young and in college again.... | weezfour (4), Oradell, New Jersey does not count - explanation | | April 16, 2008 I miss this place! Used to live in an apartment literally crawling distance away. Unheard of beer selection. Great staff, ambiance. Live music. Outside tables. Go! | WhiteAlePower (2), Long Island, New York does not count - explanation | | January 23, 2006 This is a perfect hangout / eatery / bar. Everything about it impressed me. Between the wait staff, the owner, beer selection, food. Everything. If ever you get a chance to go, do it. It is located in Central PA, not far off of route 80. Follow Signs toward bloomsburg, main street (route 11). Their beer stock is constantly changing, best bet is to go there and see the list, also ask for anything new. Sadly they had to cut their stock due to lack of sales and interest. But the owner (Russel) is always wanting to try new things. I recently had 3 of their newest additions. All excellent. Very friendly, and quality place! |
