| emeinz (25), Minnesota | | May 13, 2012 Fantastic selection for the tastings. I highly recommend this. They had 4 leviathian selections on tap. The amount they pour you is amazing. This is a must stop I. Boston. Pretty easy to stop at off the silver line. Prices at the store at pretty awesome. Got a 4 pack of the barley wine. Really cool set up too. Got to see the brewers messing with the pilot system. The trouble shooting process was awesome to see. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | May 3, 2012 In fairness, no matter what anyone thinks of their beer, it’s hard to argue with free. They host tastings daily at 2 and 4 with 10-12 taps up. It’s usually enough time to do 4-5 4 ounce pours. All of this takes place in their combo tap room/gift shop. Do I wish they had a brewpub? Sure but this is a pretty solid introduction to their beer. | | ads135 (49), Lawrence, | | November 20, 2011 Just a tap room, but impressive in how much they let you drink (flights of the entire selection). A bitch to find. The brewmaster tapped the Irish Ale for me early. Went here on my visit to Providence and Boston with Kristen and Carolien. | | tderoeck (93), Gent, Belgium | | October 27, 2011 Did the brewery visit here. Short but ok tour, with a couple of nice stories and the usual brewing process stuff. Did get a sample straight out of one of the tanks, the IPA one week before bottling. I thought it to be better than the bottled one. (see review) The selection is quite impressive. Even if you did your utter best, you could never try all of them in the 30 minutes that are left after the tour. I was writing and sampling like crazy and luckily they let us stay another 30 minutes because we were on our honeymoon. Oh yeah, it’s also pretty cheap. 5 dollars a person for a tour and a whole bunch of samples (if you drink fast, well... you’ll drink at least 20 dollar worth of beer ;-) AND you get to keep the sampling glass as a souvenir. Nice. These people understand marketing their brewery and beers. | | Dfonorow (37), Hoboken, New Jersey | | October 17, 2011 The tour was about a half hour long, very informative, and ended with a half hour of open bar! For $5 you really can’t beat that. The people working there were nice and the selection on the taps was decent for the price (12 total I think). Gift shop was overpriced but that’s to be expected. You also can’t sample/buy any beer without going on the tour. | | BREWMUSKCLES (74), New Jersey | | July 7, 2011 [ Updated July 10, 2011 ] nice people who are unpretensive, friendly and politely informative about their beer. 11 taps of very good fresh beer with at least a couple you can’t ordinarily find. Smallish tasting room over the facility they let you step out on top and have a look around. some interesting and perhaps a bit overpriced items but hey, the samples are free! for no nonsense people who want to talk to some good folks and ENJOY some damn good beer you don’t want to miss this place. Good beers for sale and we all know this brewer makes really good beers without cleaning out your pockets. GOOD SPOT! | | jtclockwork (24), , New Jersey | | May 19, 2010 It’s worth a visit if you like Harpoon. I got some of the limited release stuff their. Basically, it’s just a one room bar with a view of the brewery floor. The bartender talks about the beer while you drink it. Of course, there’s a small gift shop. It’s been awhile since I went, but that’s all it was. | | chriso (258), London, England | | October 14, 2009 [ Updated July 14, 2010 ] Tours are now only available on Saturday and Sunday. Other days (except Monday when it is closed) there is a free tasting at 4pm plus an extra one at 2pm on Fridays. Went for the free 4pm tasting on a Thursday as it fitted in nicely with the free Thursday evening admission to the nearby Institute of Contemporary Art. As the tasting was free, I can’t fault it for value for money. Otherwise nothing to get too excited about. Although scheduled to start at 4pm, the tasting didn’t get under way until 4.15. It was preceded by a 5 minute spiel about the brewery and interrupted by another 5 minute "explanation" of the beers, which largely consisted of saying how great they all are - apparently Harpoon Cider is "the most authentic there is"! So, as the finish time was 4.50, the actual tasting window available was less than 30 minutes. They had the Leviathan DIPA and the two latest 100 Barrel releases on tap (good to get the Helles Blond Bock) plus the recently introduced UFO Pale Ale, alongside the standard range. The main benefit to me was being able to rate the crappier beers without having to buy them. I managed to try everything I needed as I had had most of the beers before but unless the number of punters is quite low (and they start the tasting on time) I think you might struggle if you wanted to try all the beers on tap. Not an essential stop but it is a freebie so I’m not one to complain. | ohiobrewman (4), Hubbard, Ohio does not count - explanation | | August 13, 2009 No food and The family and I were very hungry and it took forever to find this place. Basically just a tasting room that sells their beer and merch. with a cool view of the brewery. I really like the beer but not impressed with the facility. | | Crafty07 (11), Florence, Kentucky | | August 7, 2009 fun 1/2 open bar tasting session for 5 bucks is the highlight of this out of the way brewery in Boston. We had 13 taps we could choose from when we were there..i tried them all. Impressive. the ’spokesman’ was full of himself but it was worth it to taste offerings I can’t get where I live. Impressive! |
