| EithCubes (153), , Germany | | March 19, 2011 Had the sampler here and benefited from some post-Stout Month leftovers. Sat outside, can have a nice view and feel if you can ignore the cars. Inside is a little cozier and I’d like to spend an evening in there. Beers were well above average for a brewpub, with some excellent one-offs and even the rare high-quality session. Food was much better here than what I had previously at the Mountain Sun (and the space not at all cramped), and parking was, well, a huge strip mall lot. I’d love to go back. | | Atom (37), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | February 23, 2011 Pretty chill place nice atomsphere, old concert poster everywhere. Lots of taps from the brewery. Maybe could have used some more guest taps. Beer was ok from what I had. Service was very friendly and on top things. Didn’t have any food but menu looked good. Was a fun place with good people. | | onceblind (66), Denver, Colorado | | October 9, 2010 Man, what a place!! It was my first time to visit, and when the bartender/brewer heard that, he offered me a free set of tasters! I think regular price was $9.50, and I got 6 4oz glasses. And before I could even finish two, one of the brewers offered me a personal tour of the brewery. So needless to say, the staff is super friendly. Even singing along with "Brown Eyed Girl" when it came on the radio. Then when I was done with the tasters and about to leave, another one of the brewers was like "before you go, try my favourite!" and gave me another taster. Great, Great service and magnificent atmosphere; no tvs, no loud music, an awesome view of the mountains out the big side windows, and hand painted everything. Walls, crossbeams, electrical wiring, it was all painted with a very cozy, yet very Boulder, feel. Didnt try the food, but the selection of incredible taps will bring me back for sure! | | Nikiel (10), Portland, Oregon | | May 12, 2010 [ Updated March 12, 2011 ] With a southern flair and a large selection of beer on tap, Southern Sun is a good place for a few late-night beers. They always have a plethora of in-house brewed beers and good deals on food (especially during happy hour). The main downside (for a visitor) is that they don’t accept credit cards (though that’s great for the employees).
One thing to be aware of is that most of their beers lack body, even the stouts, which is disappointing. | | notalush (255), Denver, Colorado | | April 24, 2010 Aside from the strip mall location, this is probably my favorite of the three locations - the original, and Vine Street are both way too small inside, and thus, it is hard to get a table a certain times of day - this place is quite spacious, and very kid-friendly - aside from the size difference, and the fact that this place has much better lighting, this is pretty much identical to the other locations - the staff here, at least on my visit, was probably the friendliest compared to my experiences at the other two locations - if you can sit by the windows, you catch a nice eye full of the foothills, which is pretty cool - the fact that their food and beer can remain so consistent between three different places, with rotating 20-somethings running the show is nothing short of miraculous. | | KAggie97 (213), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas | | October 28, 2009 Decent place with a nice selection of beers. Clean but waaaay too hippie for me (Okay, I get it- you hate Bush. Get overyourselves, ya friggin’ pricks and tone down the hatred. I thought it was all about love and hugging and forgiving and gettting along... Worthless.) Beers are average to pretty good. I had the crabcake sandwich and it was quite tasty. | beerwhore69 (3), Northglenn, Colorado does not count - explanation | | June 10, 2009 This is by far the best place you will ever drink a beer and get a good bite to eat. They have nothing more than there own award winning beers on tap all the time, dont forget to ask for the nitro! And as far as food goes, the food is some of the best "burger/steak joints" have got to offer. Plus if your there late enough you will see why I rated this place so well, they tear apart the entire kitchen for cleaning, EVERY NITE!! | | Theis (91), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | February 24, 2009 Again a top tour. Nice guys, lots of beers, some strange food. This place is situated in a outskirt mall. Friendly staff. The furniture is wooden benches, and colorfull paintings. There is really no need to go here, if you go to the sister brewpub at mountain sun in Boulder. But a strange/nice place. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | February 23, 2009 February 2009. This doesn’t come close to being as charming as sister Mountain Sun closer to downtown Boulder. But they offer the same beers (for the most part) and the same quality burger fare. Worth a visit if you’re in this part of town, but otherwise I’d pick Mountain Sun first. (Brewery #472) | | Skinnyviking (113), Copenhagen, Denmark | | January 11, 2009 When we came to the place it was pretty crowded. We were there to see the brewery and had to wait quite some time for a person to assist us. In the meantime we got a beer on the house. Apparently they had forgotten our appointment. After the tour we got some food and some more beers. Friendly people but I was not especially impressed. |
