Conveniently located near almost every single subway line for anyone not in the immediate surrounding area.
Solid craft beer selection, and consistently so. First time I went was to meet some friends without knowing much about the place. I walked in to see a mostly empty bar with KBS on draft (among other treats) and fresh, free popcorn to munch on.
Reasonable draft prices plus a frequently updated tap selection make me a happy camper. Bottles can get pricey though, particularly their vintage bottles. | | miketd (112), Cleveland, Ohio | | January 19, 2011 Pretty typical, but nice pub. The beer list was great and the beer they had on the "upcoming" board was even better. Service was fantastic and the prices were pretty good. Did not eat here... don’t think they even serve food but could be wrong. Very nice place. | swong17 (1), does not count - explanation | | August 31, 2010 Took me waaaay too long to make my way here, but I’m glad I finally did. Went during happy hour, where everything is just $2 off. Maybe because it was a Monday, maybe because it was hot, but the place wasn’t too packed and my friend and I struck up a nice conversation with the bartender, who ended up treating both of us to a free drink and inviting us to see her husband’s band’s album release party a couple days later. Overall, reasonably priced with a good happy hour and friendly bartenders. And free popcorn! | | malrubius (18), Valley Stream, New York | | June 12, 2010 Probably my favorite NYC beer bar, all things considered. 35 minutes by LIRR, very close to Atlantic terminal. Excellent chill atmosphere, fairly quiet. NIce outdoor area in back. I have brought my six-year-old with me several times on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Good, friendly service. Very good selection with occasional gems. Free popcorn (a 10 for food). Good prices for NY. Only drawbacks: they’ll let you sample before purchase, but sample is in a toy miniature mug from which it is impossible to get aroma. Real drawback: They need to LEARN HOW TO CLEAN GLASSWARE!!!. Glasses should not have bubbles clinging to the bottom and sides (had to knock a point off on service for poor glassware cleaning). | | beastiefan2k (141), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | January 18, 2010 This is starting to become the "it" bar in Brooklyn for me. They are getting great taps right now and the place is never packed. Good but small bottle list with a few special bottles here and there. The service is usually good at the bar. Fast without a problem. I have been here a few times in the past 2 years (more often recently). Free popcorn is always nice. Place is dark but comfy. Plus you are 3 doors away from Pacific Standard, so you have numerous chooses when here. I recommend this bar if you are looking for a bar in Brooklyn but not in Williamsburg. | | beershih_tzu (12), Brooklyn, New York | | January 11, 2010 Fantastic bar with big selection, fairly knowledgeable staff, cozy with huge backyard, always a cask or two... same block as Pacific Standard so between the two they have 80% of the craft beers covered on any given night. Hah! | | j12601 (214), Poughkeepsie, New York | | January 10, 2010 Came here solely to get two beers figuring I’d drink them and be gone. Ended up staying about two hours. I got in right at opening, and had hung out at Pacific Standard basically next door until then. That there are two nice beer bars so close that get along and are happy to have each other near is nice. Cold when I arrived, but it was me and the bartender for the first 45 minutes at least, and he’d been in maybe 5 minutes longer than I. He was happy to pour samples of things and was quite knowledgeable about what was on tap and glad to talk beer for a while. Nice place, interesting bottle list and some nice taps. | | PilsnerPeter (100), Flushing, New York | | October 26, 2009 Slightly awkward layout upon first entering- bar on left with a narrow passage past it. The chalkboard is also on your right (opposite of the bar, which is a bit of a weird setup). The selection is a solid craft line up with some import stuff as well. The prices are fair, averaging at about $6 a pint. The back seating area is nice, and the large outdoor patio is a plus. Not a bad stop- they’ll usually have a couple of new beers in rotation. I ticked a couple while here. They also update frequently on beermenus.com |
