One of the more well-known bottle shops in the NYC area. A bit narrow when you walk in as you’re surrounded by refrigerators and shelves full of bottles on both sides. In the back is the growler station and deli. There are some tables on the deli side where you can eat and drink. In the summer time, there’s a back yard area to sit as well. Let’s start with the growler station, which is probably the highlight for me. These guys get some great things on tap and on top of that, for very reasonable prices; $10 for a growler of Boat Beer or Victory Swing Session is a definite win in my book. As you get into stronger and more esoteric beers, the prices escalate in a hurry. If you ask me, you don’t really need a growler of imperial stout anyway. People here are pretty knowledgeable and helpful. Now to the bottles; this is where things fall apart. While the selection is very very good, the prices are exorbitant. Bottles can end up being 5-10 bucks more expensive than at other places in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Truly tragic; I’d go here way more often if the bottle prices were more reasonable. The sandwiches are quite large here, though very good. They cost $11 and come with free Zapps chips, so that works for me. Overall, I’d say Bierkraft is one of the best places in town to get growlers, but not so much for bottles.

Visited late afternoon on a Tuesday. Interesting layout to the place, fairly narrow when you enter with a long bench against the wall, picnic tables, and seats across. Had a coffee house vibe to it, almost. As you walk towards the back, the food is on the right, and the taps are to your left. The coolers of beer are around the corner from the taps. When I visited, there were about 5 people there, but I can imagine this place and get jammed and crowded pretty quick. The 10 or so taps are well chosen, and the bottle selection was well above average. Knowledgeable (though some what aloof) staff, pastrami sandwich I had was fine (bread was a touch stale). Overall, another really great beer geek hang out.

Kind of surprised this place does not get higher ratings. Small place on 5th in Park Slope. Basically one side is bottle shop and other side is bar/sandwich shop with a growler station in the middle towards the back of store. Kind of like a horseshoe shape. Pretty nice bottle selection and lots of cool beers available for growlers and to drink on the other side. I grabbed a sandwich to go and while it was good I thought $12 was a little much but that seems to be the norm in this neighborhood. They have events every week and will give you samples of anything prior to buying a growler. Also it appears that they brew their own beer so they be serving that soon as well.

One of the driving forces in NYC beer culture...they have great events and should be higher in these rankings. The selection is large for such a small space. It is really good for some breweries but has a lot of gaps in selection which is warranted given the physical size. They guys pouring growlers and ringing you up all seem super beer nerdy. Have picked up a number of choice bottles there you aren’t likely to find elsewhere. I hear the sandwiches are awesome but haven’t had one yet.

Amazing place. Beerstore and pub combined. You can buy beers from the fridges on bottles or get it from the taps (15 or so taps). Rare and goods ones. I like this place a lot. The music was very loud but that’s the only negative... Not the cheapest place.

Good bar, nice selection on tap, bottles to go, good beer geek life with events every week.

Narrow hallway stacked with good beer and fridges. At the end of the hallway it opens up into a bar with inside and outside seating. Can buy simple sandwiches that look pretty good. On tap section looks good, and have a good number of beers. You’ll find good beers here. Seems like the owner likes IPAs a lot. Not overly priced. great place to go in the slope.

Ah, Bierkraft. Half upscale deli, half upscale beer store & growler dispensery. Their sandwiches are yummy and only moderately pricey. Great selection of growler fills at mostly reasonable prices. Their bottled beer, however, is ridiculously overpriced. They boast an impressive selection for having such a small storefront, but your wallet feels the pinch with every bottle purchased. It’s not uncommon to see their shelf prices marked 50% (and occasionally 100%!) higher than their nearby competitors -- even on items that aren’t particularly tough to find! Not to say there aren’t occasional deals here: I purchased 3 bottles of 2006 DFH 120 for $17 apiece last summer. But overall, I have no reason to shop here. If they ever decide to lower their prices into the realm of reason, I’ll give them another shot.

Bierkraft is an insane cool place, half store, half beer bar, with an excellent beer selection, bottles, taps, growlers to go...and very decent prices for NYC at 5$ a pint. Over 15 taps of goodness. And they have a nice deli corner, with excellent sandwiches (12 inches for 10$ with chips). Free tasting on Tuesdays. A must in NYC!

Finally made it down, you need a car to do this. Grat selection of hard-to-find bottles, but you pay up. Prices were 10-42% higher so that my $240 bottle tab was roughly $60 premium over careful shopping. The plus side is getting barrel aged bottles and new releases available in NY state at one go. The growlers were a good deal, they were out of everything I wanted from checking the site the day before. Still got a decent pilsner. New casks arriving, and they do let you buy a glass before you buy a cask. Narrowish space, with a food takeout area and the use of a washroom.
