| Maverick34 (32), New York | | March 18, 2012 Beer store that’s a bar. Usually good oneoff kegs from local brewers. Bottles are decent but annoyingly expensive. Patio out back, woodburning stove, and rotating art exhibits in front. | | Leighton (226), London, England | | July 28, 2011 Been here a few times. This place is great for growler fills but, as others have mentioned, the bottles are silly expensive. The range of beers on draft is great and you can try a few while you’re there in the shop, which is pretty cool. The location is a little bit out of the way (two/three subways if you’re coming from Manhattan, if I recall correctly) but definitely worth a visit. | | HoppityHop (54), New Jersey | | March 1, 2011 A friendly and quiet little place tucked away at the end of Greenpoint Avenue. Taps rotate very often, and the selection is always varied and interesting. Prices are fair on most growler fills, but some of the more exotic or unique fills can be pricey. Bottles/cans are crazy expensive. Service is good........they encourage sampling a few before you commit to a growler, and you can also purchase pints for on premise consumption. Cool little place. | | nickd717 (80), San Francisco, California | | December 31, 2010 [ Updated January 7, 2011 ] A great little place close to the home of some family friends in the Polish neighborhood of Greenpoint. Built in an old garage, this is a bar, beer store, and growler fill station all in one. The tap selection is great - I had a couple Hill Farmstead beers as well as some other interesting stuff. The guy there, Eric, is very knowledgeable about beer, which is always a good thing. The seating is austere but befitting of the setting. Bottle prices are a bit high, even for NYC, for which I need to knock down the score a little bit. Captain Lawrence Smoke from the Oak pack for EIGHTY BUCKS??? Come on, man! Overall a solid place though that I wish I lived two blocks from like my friends do. | | rocbyter (43), Waterbury, Connecticut | | November 24, 2009 [ Updated March 11, 2010 ] We were the only ones in there at the time so the service was great. Tap selection was good and its nice to drink a beer while also buying it. The bottle selection wasn’t large but it had some hard to find ones. Growlers are reasonably priced but bottles are a bit high. | | chimay67 (58), hunt sta, New York | | September 20, 2009 Ok this is one querky little joint. Located in a step gabled building befitting a good Lowlands pub, it’s got a tap/growler line on the right hand side when you walk in. They have a variety of glass sizes as well as growlers to go. Down the right side of the place is a cold case chock full of a very good selection of bottled beers to drink there or take away.
Only downside are the hours, they do tend to close up early as opposed to most bars in the area. Service was prompt and helpful. Good fun, interesting concept. | | tgncc (49), Bellmore, New York | | September 11, 2009 Nice, clean looking place. The selection was decent. It’s actually a place with about 12 draught beers, and a medium sized refrigeration case of beer. Also, it’s actually a bar of sorts; you can drink a pint there on premises. The beers on tap are excellent. The prices for tap beers are ok, not great. The bottles there for sale are WAY overpriced ($21 for Beer geek Breakfast, $7 for most lagunitas, $3 for a 12 oz bottle of Blue Point). The service is decent, and the people running it are enthusiastic about craft beer. Interesting place, worth a visit. | | PilsnerPeter (100), Flushing, New York | | August 19, 2009 Unique beer store. They have a distribution license, so it’s essentially a beer store where you can buy $4 dollar pints. The bottle prices are a bit high compared to other NY stores, but the taps change out and the growler fills are a fair price. They do half growlers as well. Friendly staff. Nothing very special or rare, but it’s cool to be dirnking a pint in a beer store. |
