| IPFreely (143), Sanborn, New York | | November 16, 2011 Cool little bar. Somewhat trendy in its decor, but nicely done. Shuffleboard, a nice patio out back with a movie showing, oddly enough a ladies arm wrestling tournament started up as well. Nice bar area, but limited seating. Small, but solid beer selection with fair prices. Service was fine, although otherwise unremarkable. Neighborhood bar? Eh, sort of. I usually equate ’neighborhood’ with ’divey’, which it certainly wasn’t. Had a fun time at this place as well | | tderoeck (93), Gent, Belgium | | October 27, 2011 Here we had our last beer of the evening. "One for the road!", or better "one for the bed", because we slept over right next door. We all had the same beer, which normally I would not agree to. BUT! We had the Southern Tier Pumking beer on draft. Oh my. I cannot imagine any better beer of which you can drink a pint right before going to bed. The owner of the place was a very friendly woman with whom we chatted away. Coming there with a local might of course have helped, but I think she’s nice to everyone. The selection is small but for the second time that night I was surprised to see all these rare and high quality Belgian (and German) beers. If I’d be living next door, I’d never be at home. | | Maverick34 (32), New York | | October 15, 2011 Reall cool place, David Lee Roth meets Stowe VT ski lodge decor, shuffleboard games, session beers, casks & food. | | Leighton (226), London, England | | August 22, 2011 A very nice neighborhood bar tucked away in Greenpoint. I came here for a special Brooklyn Brewery bottle tasting but I also enjoyed the draft offerings. The range is small or medium but the quality is high. The beers are well-priced, with the least expensive going for $5. There seem to be some nice food options (cheese plate, e.g.), but I did not try any and cannot comment. The one bartender working during my visit was efficient and polite. The bar itself is relatively small and there is a garden out back. Because of this place’s location (fairly off the beaten path) I cannot envision it ever getting too crowded, and I think that’s great. | | theisti (273), Leawood, Kansas | | January 14, 2011 Sunday afternoon visit, only four folks at the bar. This was a cool local place with a great shuffleboard, weird Van Halen theme, well chosen beer selection, and nice cheese olives and pickles. I have no idea if this gets jammed on the weekend, but it was perfect for a quiet pint and whooping up on Eugene in shuffleboard. | | beershih_tzu (12), Brooklyn, New York | | January 11, 2010 I’d scored them higher on ambiance but something about the interior of the place isn’t so appealing. Sorry. The garden is really great in the warmer months and I do love the place... always a great selection of beer. | | chimay67 (58), hunt sta, New York | | September 20, 2009 Very cool joint in North Bklyn. Good sized mellow crowd on the 2nd Sat night of NYC Craft Beer Week. Nice patio in back.
Staff was bustin it out and the selection of brews was well chosen. We’ll be back. | | puzzl (100), New York, New York | | December 5, 2008 Shuffleboard table is awesome. Nice selection of locals at decent prices. Kind of in the middle of nowhere, but a nice stop no doubt. Worth a stop. | | JoeMcPhee (398), Toronto, ON, Ontario | | January 21, 2008 I’ve got to thank the crowd at Barcade, because if it hadn’t been for them, I don’t know when I would have gotten here. Very cool interior with high ceilings over a curving bar, salvaged tables and chairs and a great old jukebox at the back. Shuffleboard on the side is a plus. A good selection of taps and a very nice selection of bottles (the Goudenband is terrific) that are very reasonably priced. There is a very chill vibe to this place that I really like. I’ll be back. | | beastiefan2k (141), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | January 20, 2008 Named after Diamond David Lee Roth, you know the bar is going to be fun. Nice interior with shuffle board, cool white area behind the curved bar, trendy old tables and chairs. Some exposed brick and an outside area, looks cool inside. Selection is decent, nothing too special one-off rare-type stuff but they know beer and get decent taps (i.e De Dolle). Bottle selection is decent ranging from $4 cans of New England brewing to $30 BFM and a vintage list with 92 Goudenband and old Harvest Ale. Service was good, owner was there serving. Some small food dishes available, including cheese plate and pickles/olives, thats all I had and it was good, the other things seemed appetizing as well. I will return. |
