peterclash (3), Malmö, Sweden does not count - explanation | | May 3, 2011 This is the best pub I’ve entered so far. Beeing a swede on vaccation in NY with focus on beerdrinking and getting to know people, this was elite. The bartender immediately sensed what I wanted and I did not only drank some of my best beers here, I also spend the whole evening with some wonderful regulars. The interior tells tales of some great brewers/events being there. Love it! | | tgncc (49), Bellmore, New York | | February 5, 2011 Nice pub-like atmosphere, nice outdoor area for warmer weather. The service is usually prompt and courteous. The selection varies. Generally not outstanding, but they DO have some killer events with killer beers. No food, but you can BYOF. Decent prices. Nice place, a little far off the beaten path. | | zdk (79), New York, New York | | January 24, 2011 made it here for the Southampton tasting and was pleasantly surprised. Had the option for 16 or 12oz pours on pretty much everything, which helped with ticking. Got there early, before the southampton beers where put on, so the selection is good even when there isn’t an event, though nothing all that rare. Decent prices and friendly service. No food, but bringing in food is no problem (pizza place across the street is decent). Nice neighborhood bar which, despite one really drunk couple who broke a glass, probably doesn’t get too rowdy. I’d come back more often but it’s a bit of a trek from manhattan via subway. | | JanLaursen (30), Copenhagen, Denmark | | January 19, 2011 On the service the place might look like quite a few other places, but once you get there you grab the atmosphere of a neighborhood-bar. We watched a few of the matches in this years Soccer World Cup there this summer. And had a few beer from tap as well. Absolut decent selection. Would like this place to be my local bar, if I lived in N.Y. | | ben4321 (117), Hoboken, New Jersey | | June 10, 2010 This was a pretty decent place. Didn’t appear as though they had food. The beer selection was pretty solid, the service was decent, and it had a big outdoor area, which is always a plus. Good place to grab a beer. | fastpass17 (2), does not count - explanation | | April 26, 2010 Good rotation of craft beers, with a knowledgeable staff. Very reasonable prices. Nice outdoor area. Great place to relax and enjoy fine beer or two. | | beershih_tzu (12), Brooklyn, New York | | January 11, 2010 Been going here for years and years... excellent neighborhood bar with a kick-ass beer selection. The people that work there and that patronize it are all great, unpretentious people. The kind of place I wish I could go to more often. Oh and they have darts. C’mon! | | CUJO (19), Brooklyn, New York | | June 24, 2009 Nice outdoor spot in the Slope, however the outside is small and you can never get a seat. Inside is nice and dark, old style feeling. Selection varies depending on when you go (ie events) but the taps are decent and prices are ok as well. | | ManvsCity (22), Redmond, Washington | | April 12, 2009 Stopped in for food and beer after a bottle run at Biercraft just down the street. The bartender has a binder full of menus from the literally dozens of nearby carryout places. You phone in your order, and a bike shows up with some darned good vitals. Two Brothers brewing was featured on tap, but there were lots of local and a few European brewers too. We were a day early for a cask festival that was to feature mostly English beers and "some surprises", according to the poster. Besides beer, the place also serves hard liquor. Classic neighborhood hangout kind of place. Dogs allowed. | | PilsnerPeter (100), Flushing, New York | | December 18, 2008 Surprised it took me this long to stop in here. I ended up going for the huge Bear Republic event, so of course the selection was awesome when I was there. Nice looking bar, with dim lighting, old tin ceilings, wooden booths around the perimeter, and a garden- which I must visit in the warm weather. Prices seemed fair. Their half pours are about 10oz, so that was a plus. Seems like a laid back spot for a few craft brews. |
