| BelgaBart (25), Antwerpen, BELGIUM, Belgium | | May 20, 2012 Very touristic, but dessent. Great selections of beers, but somthimes pricy. | | SaintMatty (128), Uppsala, Sweden | | May 13, 2012 The beer section is in the basement of this centrally located store that also sells jenever and Belgian chocolates in addition to beer. Worth visiting. | | Ibrew2or3 (248), Phoenix, Arizona | | April 27, 2012 They have gone all out, sold their souls maybe, to make this place look swank uber high end rather than putting in interesting offerings and letting the beer itself create the swank. They have a few taps in the back and nothing ‘on’ of any note. The bottle shop has neat bottle and glassware sets that will set you back a good bit of money. There’s virtually nothing here you can’t get elsewhere, in fact there’s much less. I happily walked out not buying anything and I have no plans to return. If you’re really looking for a fairly mainstream beer that no one else seems to have on the shelves then this might be worth a look. Else . . . | | Lowenbrau (65), , Spain | | April 21, 2012 Huge beer store, where almost every single belgian beer can be found (no westvleteren of course...).
| | BlackHaddock (175), , England | | April 2, 2012 This is a high quality beer, chocolate and food produce shop (jams, biscuits, etc). It is laid out in a variety of rooms at different levels. There is also a bar and terrace on a canel side which gets very busy mid-afternoon. Expect to be photographed if you use the terrace, sadly it closes at 19.00; at least it did on the Saturday I visited. The Beer Wall is also nice to look at; this place has had a lot of money thrown at it: and it shows. They want a return so don’t expect any bargins.
Back to the shop bit: neat, clean and well presented shelves, housed in the 15th Century Mayor’s House. The labyrinth of well lite spaces invite you to fill your basket with bottles and glasses, but beware, it isn’t cheap, so go sober!
I bought 8 different beers (all 33cl bottles) for 19.20 Euro, so 2.40 Euro average per beer.
Prefered biershop "De Bierboom", but for a place in central Brugges this was fine and well worth popping in and having a nose around.
| | prawlie (36), , England | | March 16, 2012 Great shop and a nice bar. The beer wall is very impressive, and the little bar has a nice terrace outside looking onto the canal. | | MrW (14), Londerzeel, Belgium | | February 28, 2012 The store has (almost) every belgian beer. And it has an orderly settlement. Some glassware and giftpacks as well. It is overpriced, you’d better look in some beverages centre if you have more time. Perfect shop for tourists though.
The bar of the shop is disappointing. It has got about 7 beers on draft and 15 bottles. But they are a bit overpriced in my opinion. | | BattRD_Gent (12), Heule, Belgium | | February 20, 2012 Nice shop to visit in the search of Belgian beers. Definitely visit the cellers where you will find the main beerstock together with there glasses. | | sebletitje (198), Enghien, Belgium | | December 26, 2011 Modern style deco in a small alley. Very touristy with all the Belgian food and beer specialties to buy.
I like the setting, the cellar is beautiful, the beerwall adds a nice touch but I am not getting the passion behind it, more of of an attention grabber and eye candy than anything else.
Plenty of beer gift packs to buy with the matching glass. Prices are decent and some on the overpriced. Sadly most of the beers are from the big breweries.
The end of the alley has a bar with a few beers on draft and some in the fridge.
Not my style, too crowded, too many tourists blocking your way to snap pictures and not a place where I’d want to sit down and have a beer. Too sad because the history of the area is interesting. | | Hansen (35), Assentoft, Denmark | | December 14, 2011 Has a lot of belgian beers, mostly the normal ones. Remember to walk around, they do also have beers in the celler. Not much service, and the beers are very expencive. |
