| SaintMatty (128), Uppsala, Sweden | | May 13, 2012 A cosy and welcoming restaurant with a small, but fairly varied food menu. I ate the stoemp with sausages and it was delicious. The beer list is not the biggest you’ll find, but the focus is on quality. Dupont Redor Pils on tap is a definite plus. | | Fin (243), Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | | April 29, 2012 We (Fin & Loz) visited here Saturday 28th April 2012. It was busy and we were not eating, so sat at two of the three stools at the bar. Great little beer list with some really interesting selections, I had Alvinne Freaky, Loz had an old favourite Taras Boulba. Food looked pretty good. We wanted to sit outside but the lady serving said we couldn’t as it might rain, we said but it isn’t raining, and to be fair it didn’t look likely to, but the lady serving suggested that it would probably rain if we sat outside and she didn’t want to come out to serve us in the rain, a rather fuzzy logic but amusing, however neither of us were that impressed with the person serving. Its a good place and the beers are very well chosen , however I am rather surprised that it rates as highly as it does. | | JorgeLee (19), , England | | April 29, 2012 Tiny but cool cafe with a 20s/30s feel about the decor. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Beer menu not huge for Belgium but well put together, with a nice selection on tap aswell as bottles. Service friendly. | | YULbier (209), Brno, Czech Republic | | April 6, 2012 Tiny restaurant (max. 20 places) with a beer menu focused mainly on gueuzes, saisons and trappist ale. Only. Good. Stuff. Nice interior, laid-back ambiance in the afternoon, efficient service. Didn’t eat, but food looked yummy. Will definitely come back for dinner/evening next time. | | Bragesnak (73), Aarhus, Denmark | | March 25, 2012 Fantastic beer based food - along with the best belgium beers. Relaxed place to rest. | | cpetrone84 (34), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | January 12, 2012 Best spot in Brussels, even though that is like saying the best athlete in the special olympics. Olivier was awesome, hung with us for a while, shared some great DuPont beers with us that you can’t get most places. Small selection but exactly what he wanted on there and he did a darn good job. The food was awesome in this small, one room place with a little bar up front and some outside seating on the street. Definitely go here and hang with Olivier. | | Bucky9z (10), Wisconsin | | November 27, 2011 This is a very good restaurant with great food. I went here for dinner with my wife, and had fresh Saison Dupont followed by lasagna and Lindeman’s Cuvee Rene Kriek. The beers they offer are superb, but the beer list is shorter than some other restaurants in Brussels. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, but since the tables were so close together there were some awkward moments during the course of the meal. If you don’t make a reservation ahead of time, you’re likely to find yourself without a table since the restaurant fills up fairly quickly. This is not a restaurant we will need to come back to multiple times, but it’s a reasonable value and I definitely recommend it for anyone to visit once. The honesty in their food and beer selections alone make it worth visiting, over many of the more tourist-trap restaurants near the Grand Place. | | MrChopin (89), Baltimore, Maryland | | November 6, 2011 Quite possibly the coolest place in Belgium. Inconspicuous, small, one room restaurant, sparse decor in high-ceilinged cafe setting, maybe seats 30, 4 person bar, single large window at the front. Friday afternoon was dead, so Olivier chatted us up while the jazz blasted on in the background, first about the amazingly cheap DuPont beers we sampled and then the food. He quickly brought out several beers not on the list, no charge. We ordered food, impressed with everything including the low price. We came back Friday night, the place was abuzz. We sat outside, the door opening occasionally to warm the tables on the sidewalk, the aroma and buzz from inside wafting out. Unbelievable atmosphere. Olivier’s hospitality is exceptional, he kept coming out to chat about "drinkable" beers with us despite being the only server for 15 tables. Can’t wait to go back and share in the awesome beer and food, but most of all chat more with Olivier. | | Rastacouere (581), Montréal, Quebec | | November 3, 2011 An awesome restaurant serving excellent Belgian specialties at low prices for Central Brussels and the quality. The beer selection is not the widest, but nicely focuses on lambics and unless you’re a finished ticker, you should find something to have a good time. Plenty of beer cuisine. Not necessarily a place where a group of 10 should come and party, but to have a sturdy meal and a good glass of gueuze, it’s going to be tough to beat.
| | visionthing (114), Oslo, Norway | | October 27, 2011 Excellent restaurant and excellent service. We arrived just after the lunch rush I guess, because suddenly we were the only guest left in the restaurant that was full when we arrived. Nice beer dishes, I had the "Veal meatballs in white beer sauce". Not the largest selection of beer, but quality beer. Nice place, just a few steps away from the tourist traps. Recommended! |
