| peteinSD (34), San Diego, California | | May 16, 2012 I always enjoy a stop here on my way through the area. Taps are usually the standard line-up with perpaps a seaonal like Parabola or Abacus if it was released recently. The fish tacos are overpriced but really quite good. The highlight for me is always having a pint of Union Jack on tap. | dougdecinces (9), Indianapolis, Indiana does not count - explanation | | November 13, 2011 I went here after my visit to Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company and the differences were stark. Figueroa was small, warm and homey; while Firestone Walker was more sterile and professional. It wasn’t a terrible experience, don’t get me wrong. Tastings were fairly priced. My server was knowledgable. Plus I got a free pint glass for my efforts. This would be a fine place to bring family for dinner, I just doubt that I would want to come here just to knock back a few beers with friends. | | pushkinwow (54), Ottawa, Ontario | | July 22, 2011 Got here at opening on a Friday and had the place to ourselves until around 11:30. Place was immaculate, nice open spaces on one side, more traditional restaurant/pub on the other although all open tables. The limited food that we had (chilli and fries) were good and hot, beer samples were reasonable ($6 for 4) and the service was friendly and quick. A place worth visiting. | | BMan1113VR (279), Los Angeles, California | | July 11, 2011 Very odd place. Run kind of strangely. Went in around 2pm on a weekend. Seemed to be family hour. Tons of tables with little kids and adults eating food and drinking iced tea. They have a huge sitdown restaurant space, but I guess because of the amount of people, they shoved all the families (and everyone else) into the bar area. I think my group were the only people drinking beer. The flight rules were a bit asinine (I’ll leave it at that). The waitress was extremely rude, non attentive and really seemed like she hated being there (at least on that day). In a group with a 34 year old, a 24 year old, a 23 year old and a 22 year old (and myself at 24), I understand the reason to card people. I find it odd that when she asked to see my ID, and my other friends went for their wallets, she said, "no I didn’t ask for yours’, just his" with a grimace. On a lighter note, the beer was Firestone Walker, which is great. I didn’t order the food, but a friend did and it looked pretty bland. Again, I didn’t taste it so I do not know. All that said, I don’t feel a need to go back to this place. For me the only Firestone walker place I feel a need to visit is the actual brewery in Paso, which is absolutely an EXCELLENT stop. This place, not so much. Maybe it was just an off day. | | teamugly (17), SIMI VALLEY, California | | January 18, 2010 Staff is great! Start with a flight. | | LtDan (61), Los Angeles County, California | | January 16, 2010 The place is plush. Beautiful wood finish everywhere, and these awesome chrome taps at the bar. Perfect lighting. Migel and the rest of the crew hold it down with the service. The service was real nice on the restaurant side as well. The selection is a FSW lovers dream. Fresh everything, and a few beers you can’t get elsewhere. The food is good, but I’ll be honest, after so many good beers, the food takes a back seat. The price is always good and I never want to go home. | bpipkin (6), California does not count - explanation | | November 16, 2009 Good beer, very nice atmosphere in the bar and the restaurant, good service.
A great stop off when travelling Hwy. 101 as it’s right off the freeway, less than a mile north of Buelton town proper.
Mon-Thursday don’t open until 4 PM; open at 11 AM Fri - Sun. |
