| Chaseman (17), Massachusetts | | August 26, 2011 Came in here for a quick bite and some beer. Was pleasantly surprised by the selection. While not enormous, the choices are nice and I was able to find some good beers. Sat at a table and were happy with our waiter who was friendly and attentive. It’s a pretty nice interior with visible televisions if you want to watch a game, but has its work cut out for it when competing with other craft beer bars in Cambridge. It’s more of a restaurant with some good beers on tap rather than a craft beer bar, but still a fairly decent place. | | chriso (258), London, England | | July 14, 2010 Must have picked up since Clark went there a few years ago as it was pretty busy both times we visited. Under the same ownership as Kinsale and with a similar (but not identical) beer range. Not particularly Irish in feel though. The first time we visited we had a very pleasant time sitting at the bar. When I remarked to the server on the huge size of the olives someone had ordered she promptly rustled up a plate of them for us free of charge. However, the second time we went we had one of the few bad service experiences we’ve ever had in the US. We got served the wrong beer (either that or they had not run the new beer through the pipes enough after changing a barrel). When i pointed this out to the server she said she’d go and investigate, took 20 minutes to return, then argued the toss before grudgingly changing the beer. Because of this I reduced the tip I left (still over 15%) and she moaned about that too. Would have given it 2 for service had we not been treated so well on the first visit. Although it was close to the supermarket we used and we walked past many times, we weren’t inclined to go in again after that. Their loss. | | caesar (181), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands | | May 27, 2010 Visited in summer 2009. Not the typical beerplace, but they had some nice micro’s on tap. Bartender was working hard, while talking about beer to me, which he clearly enjoyed. Extra points for service. Food was ok, decent hamburger. | | ClarkVV (90), Allston, Massachusetts | | February 22, 2006 Pretty interesting interior, high ceilings, dark stained-oak-like wood, with a huge bar, spacious seating and quite clean. Probably about 10-15 taps on, mostly macros (guinness, smithwicks, harp, bud, coors) and one or two berkshires, a magic hat and probably a harpoon and Sam Adams. Certainly no reason to ever go out of your way just for the beer. Prices are fairly expensive, while the service is expedient, though a bit cold. Didnt eat here when I was there. Was pretty much deserted when I went, on a Saturday night no less. Looks cool inside though, but probably wouldnt go here again. |
