| theisti (273), Leawood, Kansas | | August 18, 2010 Visited evening on a Monday. This was the last stop on my walking tour of Boston. In general, this was your standard Trader Joe setup - store wise and beer selection wise. Additionally, they were out of a number of beers, so I would even say it was a bit less selection than an average TJ’s which itself is pretty low. I was staying at the Courtyard next door, so my personal convenience was good. Otherwise, really no reason to hit this place. | | Glouglouburp (259), Montreal, Quebec | | January 17, 2010 Stopped there hopping to find some Unibroue Trader Joe’s exclusive. No luck. Basic commercial grocery (this is no Whole Food) with a 1 row dedicated to beer. This is not the place to sell fancy pricey beer so the place focus is more towards affordable six-packs and the likes. Sierra Nevada, Magic Hat, the cheaper Rogues, Samuel Smith, etc. They had a bunch of their other exclusive Trader Joe’s exclusive but they are all so-so beer. All in all, nothing for the beer geek here. There’s a Whole Food close to this place that is not great but has a much better selection and is a better grocery store. | | fluids (29), | | September 3, 2005 It’s a west coast chain I started going to when I lived out in LA that has made its way eastward. For foods they have some unusual cheeses, breads, snacks as well as great frozen section for microwaveables.
The beer and wine section is almost all affordable things. | | ABUSEDGOAT (57), California | | July 20, 2005 Grocery store with a limited selection. There’s a lot more wine than beer, but still there are about 2 small rows of beer. Lotsa microbrews I haven’t heard of, and lotsa Belgian or wanna be Belgian beers like Ommegang. I think the highest rated beer (on this site) was Chimay Blue. If you are looking for some super rare elite beer, this isn’t the place. If you want a rare local microbrew look here. Pricing was reasonable - I paid $5 for Rogues Brutal Bitter, in Harvard square it’s almost 8.. | | ericnixon (57), Northampton, Massachusetts | | June 14, 2005 Since the closest Trader Joe’s to Manchester, NH (the location in Tyngsboro, MA) doesn’t carry beer, the Cambridge location is especially nice. Lots of beer from places like Ommegang (talked a woman who normally doesn’t like beer into buying a bottle), Unibroue, Dogfish Head, Smuttynose (where I found the S’Muttonator) as well as their own Trader Joe’s brand of beer. |
