Rock/metal place tucked in the back alley. Decoration and ambiance according to the music played there, there are couple of interesting details when it comes to interior decoration. Itís quiet in the afternoon and quite loud in the evening. Considering itís more music venue or sort of club than regular craft beer bar, selection is very good. Prices are bit on the high side. If youíre into this kind of music and want to drink craft this is the place to go.

Visited on a June Friday early evening. The place is very dark and dingy and wearing black is encouraged. Asked for 2 keg beers that were no longer available. Staff did admit error and were friendly. Beer range suffered a bit as a result but did pick up a couple of interesting keg beers. The place is OK, worth a nose in if passing but isnít world beating. Not my favourite place in Camden by a long chalk

Maybe a few years ago this place was a stand-out in London, but nowadays itís probably not worth visiting. Itís basically a music venue with a bar that serves pretty decent beer. Compared to the top tier drinking establishments in London, though, the selection, service and prices just arenít that great. I havenít been here in years and would only venture back if it was for a music gig.

Oh yes. This is my kind of piped music. The Black Heart tries too hard to be trendy, itís a bit grungy, but my dear Lord the beer. 7 craft keg (9 if you count Camden Pale and Ink) and one cask compliments a fairly massive bottle selection. On my visit there were draft beers by Siren, Wild Weather and Harbour among others. Worth a visit for sure.

A rock/metal/alternative music pub and venue in Camden, about 2 mins from the Brewdog bar and 2 mins from tube station. Over the past year the beer selection has gone from strength to strength - with 3 or 4 cask, 10 or so keg, and a good selection of bottles and cans. Breweries featured include lots of interesting Scottish/English micros, plus foreign keg - To Ol, Evil Twin, Ska etc. Always something new on the taps. Bottle/can list regularly changing too - currently has Widmer, Smuttynose, Rogue, Mohawk, Mavericks, Oskar Blues - a list is printed out so you can browse even if itís hard to see into the fridges. Rock & metal vibe & clientele - great if you like all kinds of alternative music and to find new beers at the same time. Always a real cider available too, and usually a streetfood vendor in residence cooking up something meaty to complement the beer. Can be busy on weekend evenings and if there is a gig on in the upstairs room, but Iíve usually been able to get a seat on most occasions.

A dark and dingy/grungy, yet typically Camdenesque place. Blaring heavy rock in over the speakers. I donít mind the music but I find the scene a little weird. Good bottle selection from local goodies to stuff like Stone, Westbrook and Oskar Blues. None of their Brewdog neighbour at all and fair enough. Service was slow but efficient. Wouldnít say the bloke was very friendly, possibly having a bad day.... A good selection but you can find selections like this throughout London with better service and tap range quite easily

Visited on 13/12/13 around 5pm. The place is just over the road from Camden Town Tube (Northern Line) and you literally walk past it in an alleyway on the way to BD Camden. The place is a medium sized open plan single room with a central ísquareí U-shaped bar. There is also an upstairs room for live music. There was plenty of room upon my arrival and it started to get a little busier as I drank my beer but nothing too hectic for 5.30pm on a Friday in London. Client base largely local/semi-local rockers backed up with rock / indie rock on the stereo system. Decor is functional, wooden floor, walls adorned with band posters. Service was good, the guy talked a little about the beer and offered a sample. Range wasnít too exciting, only 1 cask ale available (3 pumps) and the keg range, whilst offering a little variety, wasnít too exciting compared to previous reports. keg beers included a SN seasonal, Hopslinger Black IPA (By The Horns), one or two Belgian offerings. There was a pin board of beers on tap but at least 2 I asked after where not available - a little lazy in not updating these bearing in mind they only have 12 to deal with at a max ! Bottle list was solid enough, some Belgians and US, some more local offerings from the likes of Partizan and Siren. Didnít appreciate the extortion on the half pint pricing. £5.40 a pint, but the half I ordered was £3 !!! No need for that ! Ok place, at least for Camden (once a good beer desert barring Quins) they make an effort and you can combine decent enough music (or a gig) with beer. That said I wouldnít recommend a trip here other than if you have 20 minutes to kill having visited BD Camden or you are out with non beer friends who perhaps crave some music and you can reach a compromise here. Iíd always been put off coming here due to the bogus reviews it once received (staff/owners), perhaps a certain Bryn Fowler (Designated Premises Supervisor of their sister pub the Earl of Essex) ought to do the decent thing and wipe his ?

Dark, metal pub. Interesting bottle selection, along with about 15 taps (including 4 or 5 cask). Most british craft beers. Also a gig venue, where some former Motley Crue member was solo playing. Interesting and enjoyable if you are into hard-rock, metal.

A dark, atmospheric, gothic-type pub with metal blaring. My kind of place. Or used to. Canít say I enjoyed it much though perhaps the lack of local stuff and the poor choice of beer is what made it not so pleasant. Service was patient though a bit unfriendly since I didnít like what they offered or what I sampled. A bit on the pricey side.

A dark pub tucked away in the alley near the Brewdog entrance. Started out fairly well this place, always a good atmosphere here. Unfortunately the last 3 visits have seen this place decline. Service is generally slow, no fault of the staff - they are run of their feet. Just not enough of them, The cask beers have been in poor condition and I have seen a couple of punters return beers and have been tempted to do myself. They need to forget their brand image for awhile here, hire more staff and sort out the cask conditioning. Canít see me bothering to go back until they do.
