Second best place in Cardiff after Rummer Tavern. I visited this on a calm tuesday evening. Nice selection of real ales, they even had two on self pour but they have room for 4 taps. The selection is wide compared to other pubs in Cardiff, but not compared to the high end beer pubs in Europe. Nice friendly staff that was quick to serve. Nice to see that they had a sample offer where you could buy 3 samples for the price of a pint. Very cheap beer, just as in the rest of Cardiff, about 1,5 pounds per half pint.

It’s a pub, so you don’t expect flash beer, though they stock a few. It is a national institution on days when Wales RFC plays, so you can’t expect it to be beautiful. But it delivers what it does with aplomb and good staff.

Nice pub opposite the Millennium stadium. Used to be a bit of a boozer but now it is a beer pub boozer. Several real ales from the barrel and from the tap. Belgians on draught and many World beers available from bottle. Barman was very friendly and knew about the beers. Not far from Zero Degrees.

The only Brains pub which can order guest beers from outside the Brains list!!! This alone makes it unique, but even better is that the landlord tries to get rare brews via Otley (Steel City has been on the stillage here!) and you could see just about anything... Usually 2 or 3 on gravity and another 2 guests on pump plus the usual Brains beers so you may have a choice of ten or so beers! It used to be a right rough old place but it’s been nicely refurbished and is now the best place for beer in central Cardiff, maybe any part of Cardiff... well worth a look and only minutes from Zero Degrees.
