Great place, great selection super cool staff beer geeks in their own right. Can’t really say anything bad about the bottle shop, only wish it was closer to me.

Pretty good selection of far-away stuff, but when I was visiting from Northern California I was a little disappointed with their SD area selection. Prices were also not the best, though not outrageous. Cozy with lots of coolers and a thin bar in the middle. Kind of like an awkward City Beer with less selection. A good beer store that is conveniently linked to PP Carlsbad, but not a standout destination on it’s own unless you are a local looking for imports and out-of-state micros.

Awesome. This store was my shop when I lived in Oceanside. Every week included new bottles. The best of SoCal was always represented. Share a brew with the cashier if you’d like. Invite some friends from the restaurant to share pizza with your brew. Whatever. It’s good. Awesome selection. Local, somewhat beer-geek-esque. Great place. A definite stop in ANY SoCal brew tour. You cannot NOT be satisfied here!

It would be a bit ridiculous to stop by Pizza port Carlsbad without at least visiting the store. Well, it’s a nice store with a solid selection of classic. I may not have fell upon its best day because there was just about nothing we had not seen the day before at Escondido’s Holiday Wine Cellar while the opposite is simply false. I like how it’s a tiny place packed with beer fridges, but I came out without buying anything. A place I don’t buy anything in cannot really be considered world-class. Still, for the area , this has to be the best store. The prices can grow quite steep though.

A nice place to check out if you’re in the area. The prices are a little step but they have a pretty damn good selection. I need to stop by when they are doing a tasting, heard they’re off the hook.

I always stop in. Always. Because you just never know. Russian RIver BAs? European Oud Brousel? Viking Blod mead? A BFM beer that’s not sour? I’ve seen them all. And more. Was once flat-out lied to about how to get Cable Car, and also feel the whole thing is too small (read: over too quickly), but I always stop in.

(Visited 07/2008): The shop is kind of like an attached garage to the brewpub, which is located off the I-5 in Carlsbad. Street parking seems to be the best option, since there is only a small private lot behind the building.

The interior is small with coolers on either side. They are well stocked with an assortment of 100s of beers from the region and all over the world though. Port/Lost Abbey, Stone, Rogue, Alaskan, Deschutes...the list goes on. As for imports they have a nice selection from different countries. Nils Oscar, brewers from Russia, Germany, Belgium etc.

Service was good on my visit. The people behind the counter were helpful and knowledgeable.

Overall it would be nonsensical to visit the brewpub and not the bottle shop, and vice versa.

Good bottle selection, very rare stuff from time to time. Staff is really nice and helpful. You can pop stuff open in the shop and share it. Right next to the PP Carlsbad location, so you can get good pizza next door.

Great selection with very reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly and you can go in there and open up beers to share. It seems like the staff opens up beers from time to time to share with patrons as well.

Not too much in the way of ambiance, but several fridges full of some pretty good beer. Helpful staff and lots of SoCal and Belgian stuff available.
